Hey guys I recently swapped monitors with my brother and found out that bf2 does not like some lcd monitors.
What happens when I try to start bf2 is it gives me the big 2 thing, screens goes black like usual for a few seconds and then I'm back to desktop.
I've tried to find some information on this and the best I found was trying to tweak the video.con file and update the monitor drivers. The main issue they say is the refresh rate for LCD's. I tweaked both and neither worked.
There is however a thread about ReForce and shutting it off and it might work again but I have no idea how to find it on my comp or how to shut it off.
Monitor is a crap Dell E173FP.
As always any help is appreciated.

Sucks to be you right now. Okay sorry I couldn't resist. I go to this forum for video drivers and they might be able to help you out http://www.tweaksrus.com/forums/index.php?

Odrater, BF2 has a problem with resolutions. That's what's causing the game to crash with your new monitor. I can't remember if it is because the resolution in the game or the monitor is too high but that it does cause the game to crash. It's happened to me before. Try changing the resolution of your monitor to something like 800x600 then boot your game and lower the resolution in your game to a lower setting. Then exit the game, go back to the resolution you want to run on your monitor then go back into the game and set it to what you want. That should fix the problem.

I am going to give that a try as well. I crash to desktop or get the random video related re-boot.

I am going to give that a try as well. I crash to desktop or get the random video related re-boot.It's a different issue if your game is loading up. When the game starts to load then crashes before you see anything then it's a resolution issue.

Thanks Ninja. I do have a problem I think is video related. I have jumpy video and also crash to desk top sometimes while playing Bf2, and get the random re-boot while watching video clips sometimes. I have tried several different drivers to see if they make a difference. Some do and some don't. The latest driver I am using seems to have helped the jumpy/laggy game play, but not the crashes. Cant get a good handle on it.

still couldent even get into the game with a low res setting. Pretty sure it has to be that Reforce issue or im not doing the resolution manipulation procedure correctly.
