Appears EA is reworking their EA Downloader into EA Link. So far it appears better organized and looks like the usual fanfare of advertisements. Here is a snippet of the email I received from them.

EA Link provides many new enhancements;
Totally secure transactions and more options for payment.
Much more content available for download, including demos, trailers, wallpapers, patches, and more.
Exclusive bonus content when you pre-order and pre-load select titles.
Organizational tools that let you manage your downloaded content as you wish.
Real-time notifications when new content becomes available for download.
And more!If you login to your existing install of EA Downloader it will automatically download and update your copy. You can also visit http://www.ea.com/ealink to download it.

I saw it as spy/ad ware when it first started downloading automatically. I couldn't cancel the install and deleted from add/remove programs LOL. Looked like another memory resident program I didn't want constantly running...do you think there will be real benefits from this?

Not to sure but it's basically an updated EA Downloader that supposively offers more options for purchasing games online etc. Also the menu is a lot more organized.

I downloaded it yesterday through EA Downloader's update process. Seems to work ok. I checked my account with it and apparently it's giving the the ability to change your BF2 name now. Not brave enough to see if it works though. Also in the menus, if you want to turn off auto start or auto log in, make sure that the background behind the respective feature is white and not gray.

Ninja, where does it give you the option to change your player name? When I go to "Edit" and then "My Account" I get an application not found error.

Try it again...when I click on "edit", and then "my account" it takes me to "my account" information. Then click on "Downloads info" and it will take you to a screen that allows you to edit your BF2 account name. I'm not going to try it, so I don't know if it only changes it for EA Link or if it also changes it in the game as well.

Does it actually change your player name?
