Has anyone heard about the new game that is currently in Germany and the Czech Republic? It is called Armed Assault, I hear it can support 6000 players and over 6 million square miles of territory. It is supposed to have all the latest gear from the Raptor to the Avenger. www.armedassault.com/

They both look fun and the screen shots look really sweet! I like the idea of napalm strikes and tactical nukes (the one true way to "win" in Iraq ;)) with the World in Conflict game. I'd be willing to try either one or both out as long as there is no monthly subscription to play them.

ArmA is made by the developers of Flashpoint. From what I had seen previosuly they are going for a larger battlefiled with more realistic gameplay than say BF2. I think they may be even planning some persistent servers, meaning what you capture tonight you hold until the other side takes it back. Not sure how they will work that but I heard the developers aim high and want to simulate the battke on a large scale.

Looking forward to anything that promotes team work and more team oriented goals.

Did somebody say Napalm???

Heh, looks like a new version of Joint Opperations under a different banner and company. I wish Novalogic would get off their butts and make a new game. A JO2 would be awesome.

Also, I looking forward to World in Conflict. I wish more war game would take place in the 80s. So much hardward to choose from.

Saw this on FilePlanet

ArmA is a first person tactical military shooter with large elements of realism and simulation. This game features a blend of large-scale military conflict spread over large areas alongside the more closed quarters battle .

• Status: CONFIRMED • Date: December 21

Should be playing the demo this weekend. I will try and post some screenshots and feedback.

Finally after 2 years of BF2 a promising game is about to hit the shelves. I am looking foward to this game. I heard some really good things about it on the european blogs. Hopefully the U.S. version will be a hit so we can get back to FPS.

Get on TS more and you will see people on playing FPS too. We had more than 10 on in our PR server tonight. We still have 5-6 on now at 11:10 pm. Don't worry Racing is not taking over.

I think ArmA is very promising and will definately give it a go. It will be fun to do COOP maps with a whole group of OSG like in the Joint Ops days.

Looks like there is a new Demo for the US version. Might be worth seeing what is fixed or changed from the original demo.

ArmA: Combat Operations Demo (http://www.armedassault.com/us_dwnl_demo.html)
The updated 876mb ArmA Demo US download includes three multiplayer modes, three singleplayer missions and a limited version of the mission editor.

This is a demo version of ArmA (http://www.armedassault.com/us_features.html) and it covers only small part of the full game. These features include:
• Singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay
• Southern part of Sahrani (http://www.armedassault.com/enviroment.html) referred to as SaraLite.
• Selected units, vehicles and weapons.
• 3 multi player missions:
Cooperative (1-8 players)
Capture the Flag (1-16 players)
Capture the Island (1-60 players)
• 3 single player missions:
Sanitizing Operation
Helicopter Training
Commanding
• Limited editing capability:
Basic mission wizard

From GameSpy:

If you think Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter or Rainbow Six: Vegas are realistic, think again. Both those games are very forgiving when compared to Armed Assault.

I know we have BF2 Scrim Night tonight but I will try and host an ArmA Server for some game testing tomorrow. I like the variety of Multiplayer Game Modes in the Demo.

Downloading now. It would be great if this was good. We've had a serious lack of solid, new good games that everyone can get into.
