Yeah, it's Rainbow 6...I was going to pick it up, but my processor is a dual core 2.8 ghtz...i believe the game is recommending 3 or 3.1ghtz. Do you think my processor could handle it?

looks like your video card is outside the specs sask. I have a 6600gt which seems to run it ok but I have all the settings at 'low'

I figured that much...any chance i'd get by with my processor speed?

I dunno about that. and spending $50 is an expensive way of finding out.

lol...the last time i did that i purchased bf2. Turned out my pc wasn't up to par...so i upgraded and killed my pc in the process! Damn game cost me $2000! I'll email ubisoft and see what they say. It does suck though knowing my computer is less than a year old and already it's under par for some games! Not sure if i should consider upgrading yet...i may wait. Not worth it for one game...thanks Brit!

I spoke with a tech at future shop today about my specs. He said that because mine is a dual core 2.8ghz i may be able to play...of course i'd need to upgrade my video card. Oh well...not about to spend $300 upgrading just for the game...perhaps i'll get my upgrade for father's day! lol

ok, spent the day playing single player 'story mode'. It looks like and plays like GRAW but the movement control is much sharper. There is still the dusty atmosphere but the train yard and mineshaft maps have to be seen to be believed. I'm now on the first casino assault in Vegas itself.....It just looks awesome, the AI is pretty good........I havent reached the casino entrance yet, theres about 20 of them waiting for you in amongst all the stalled vehicles outside. The game just gets better and better the more you get into it.oh and the mexican/vangelis/tangerine dream music mix is great. Any of you who like 1st person shooters should get this game.......I cant wait for all the mod maps to come out.
In multiplayer, you not only get to choose weapons and equipment, you can even choose which colours you want your camo in.... I reckon thats how our red/white leotard girl got her outfit. I also read that by using a webcam you can actually map your own face onto your character........imagine running round a corner and coming face to face with Punisher..complete with pink furry slippers....:-)

Well guys, after playing with you last night, I have to revise my review on R6 Vegas. It IS pretty cool...I really like it a lot.
The "taking cover" feature where you can fire around and over things is great! I also love that you can pick up a dead enemy's gun and use it. That's something that FPS games should ALL have.
As for the blur when you get hit, I could still do without that. And the "sloppy" player movement disappeared when I returned my ATI X1900GT and got the GeForce 8800 GTS. I guess with my fairly slow processor, I need a really hot card to make it work. Ghost Recon AW works better now as well.
Now if we can just get them to increase the number of Coop players a bit...
UPDATE AGAIN: It really does rock!

yup, 8 player co op would be sweet.
I looked into the dumb name tag thing (let me explain....when you play on a LAN, instead of your ubisoft name e.g. iowabrit.... it comes up with whatever your computer administrator name is ...in my case 'steve' but goat had a really funky one lol) AND THERES NO WAY TO CHANGE IT ....Lots of complaints on the vegas message board at Ubisoft so maybe its something they will address in the next patch. Also there is a problem with using emplaced weapons (machine guns) the screen would have you press spacebar to release from the gun and move whereas the actual key to do this is 'Q'. I'v enot tried it yet so don't quote me. LAN seems to be a bit more stable and at least you don't get uninvited guests...we had a blast last night...that killhouse map is cool.
Oh and Goat, the ubisoft forums say that you have to go to 'equipment' on the server ready screen and click accept BEFORE starting a game in order to have the correct uniform etc.....maybe we can try that tonight if you get on.

Its been almost a month, and still no copy for me. Though my retailer says he will have it on monday. If he was not a good friend of mine and the store owner, I would have gotten it else where but choose to support his business. So sometime soon, you will see me return, but until then...
Boy, due to all the post's by Brit.....I bet he hasn't been this excited about something since his wedding day....or maybe it was the wedding night. ANYWAY.........you've convinced me to pick this game up and give it a try, even though I've sworn off buying any more computer games.

the more the merrier.......multiplayer adversariel can have up to 16 players and the 'streets' map (which is like an SAS training ground) would be a total blast...(specially with goat throwing grenades when he doesn't mean too..hahahaha)

WOW - that's all I can say about Vegas. This is the first Rainbow Six game I've ever played. Having never played it before, it is like a police themed America's Army but much better. Incredible graphics. Fun multiplayer. Everything can be customized. I haven't even tried single player yet, but I expect it to be a lot of fun. Plus, no bunny hopping or dolphin diving LOL.
I'll have to look into hypernia's files and see if server files are available. I would imagine that they are since they installed one of the older ones for us in the beginning. It would be a lot of fun to try since there are so many of us with it.

In reference to the server, I sent in a ticket to Hypernia to ask about installing the server files. Here's the response:
"I can, but it won't run.The game runs through a video card check."
I sent a support question to Ubisoft about installing a server since I couldn't find a single thing on their website about it.

I don't think its possible to run a server at this time..

Funny you mentioned earlier you spent $2,000 to play BF2, only $300 for this one seems a bargain by comparison.
But yeah everyone feels your pain, I know I spent a lot to play BF2. I would think your processor can handle this game, the video card??? Time to buck up there cowboy.

since I first installed vegas I had no problems, then, on friday I installed a soundblaster audigy 2 soundcard. Vegas started to crash while playing multiplayer tonight. Uninstalled vegas (including my single player story mode saves....duh?) and tried to reinstall........no joy, kept getting a 'file transfer error'
After swearing a lot and cursing ubisoft, I tried removing the soundcard and doing a vegas install................went through it like clockwork..no problems installing or patching up....
Now I have two questions.....
1.what the f*** has a soundcard to do with installing a game?
2. anyone out there want a cheap soundcard?
end of britrant.... :-D

I hate to say this sounds familiar. I had a similar problems when I installed a creative card. Great cards, but I think there is probably some driver conflict going on. You might check for updated drivers for the card, and check forums for information regarding this game and hardware conflicts with it. From the sounds of it this game is pretty demanding and "older" hardware might not work with it? I am sure those that know more than me, will weigh in and help a Brit out. Good luck.
