Here is a link to the official forums and a post where a developer of the R64 game "Lockdown" answers questions about the PC version. (Note: I believe the console versions (PS2/Xbox) are expected to be out first. The PC version is expected to be more console like than previous versions.)

I heard this is pushed back until September. Doh!

On the up side, Ghost Recon 2 was cancelled for PC...but Ghost Recon 3 is set to release around September-October timeframe.

I downloaded it and played single player some in the early morning hours after the above post. The graphics are awesome...the game play feels the same yet the environments seem to be more immersive and interactive.

Anyone that enjoed our R63 nights should check out this free demo. It even has a multiplayer option in the demo.

Please post your feedback and opinions here.

I'm pulling it down right now! Tomb, maybe we can play online tonight or this weekend. Whoever get's it, let's meet in the Rainbow Six Channel on vent if you're online and playing...

UPDATE: Looks pretty good! In order to join a MP game I had to disable XP firewall...router ports were open, but I couldn't get in until I dropped the firewall. Also, if the server has it set, the new version allows respawns after about 30 seconds, so you don't have to sit out anymore...

Hey guys: I don't know what my problem is but it won't let me download the Demo. I belong to File Planet and that is no problem but I keep getting an error message that" File Planet Download Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Then it say they are sending a copy of the crash report to ATI Tech.

Under error description it says: " File planet download manager experienced 'access violation' [0xc0000005] at address: 10003c0201:00002c02 in module 'C:\program files\ATI Technologies\ATI Hydravision\Hydra DMH.dll' [v3.21.0.2105]

We did get Goat a copy of the demo...Here's a link to a great site for R6 Lockdown. Scroll down a bit to find several download mirrors for the demo, if you have trouble with FilePlanet.

http://www.agr-s.com/index.html

As far as the demo, it looks nice. The graphics are good, the physics are good, and the weapons look great. They've also added respawns, so if you go down in the first 2 minutes, you don't have to wait for the next game. I can't wait to see the other maps. I hear they have re-done the old 747 airport map from the Rogue Spear series...that should be fun!

ALSO---depending if your system and graphics card can handle it, be sure to go into the "advanced" video options and set them all up to high to get the best look. By default they're set low, and I thought the game looked weak until I cranked up the graphics. Now it looks hot!

Hey Gang: The newest on the Raven Shield "Lock Down" release date is now 14 Feb 2006 and that is supposed to be firm (yea right). I just got it off of the web site so it is the latest. Sure looks nice and it does play good!

I am pissed!

I just picked it up and I can't get past the UBI screen! It makes a blip sound and just hangs. Looks like others have the problem too (in their forum). It seems it's because of the freakin copy protection. I'll keep you posted.

******* UPDATE ****
Turns out it was conflicting with my Zone Alarm firewall. While it put an entry in to allow access to lockdown.exe...it added a second lockdown.exe entry which I had to manually give access to. Then it worked. (of course it worked with the Zone Alarm OFF, which is how I usually play online anyway)

Hey guys, post when you get it! Then we can have a "Lockdown" night....

I got R64 now. I am able to log in to ubi, but it doesn't let me connect to a server. It says something about the LAN settings don't allow other players to join me, but I am trying to join them. Any ideas?

psychodad
02-20-2006, 02:55 PM
Squad, I don't think you shouldn't see anything about LAN settings unless your trying to launch or join a LAN game.

Make sure you select the "UBI.COM" option, then "join game" or "create game".

If you still have problems, you may want to drop whichever firewall you run. If you're using a router, I think you need to open ports 2346-2348.

This forum has some good info if you still have problems...

Anytime Squad...I'm not sure if I'll be up soon, but Wednesday night at the latest.

To open the router ports: open your web browser, enter:"http://192.168.1.1" as the address, unless you changed the name and password its admin for both. Then go to advanced, then forwarding, then port range forwarding.

hope that helps....

oh boy......lockdown rocks.....the controls take a bit of getting used to but once you do..........what an awesome game.....just as good as GRAW but with controls that actually work.....so far I'd give it 9 out of 10...even the music is cool....my only beef is NO L85......whats up with that?

Iowabrit

Hey Brit, I really liked the game (good graphics and control, good AI, etc.) and game play in single player. There were just a few things held it back from being great for OSS team play. It seems there is a cap on 4 player CoOp. Kinda sux having 6-8 guys wanting some CoOp action and being forced to play on seperate servers or go Adversarial just to all play on the same night.

The maps are also much more linear than the the R63 maps..some say this is directly attribted to the game having been designed for consoles first and the re-coded for the PC after. The maps don't give you much room to accomplish your tasks in way other than intended. I remember our R63 nights we would try all sorts of different tactics and approaches but you just do not have that freedom in LD. It is still fun and some of the scipted events that happen during the Missions (arty strikes, ambushes, etc.) really draw you in to the game.

Just thought I would post some of the stuff that was discussed on Vent early on after LD's release.

Well I'll be dimmity damned I finally got it to work! I give it a -9 for giving me such a damn hard time. I spent all afternoon trying to get it working. Kept telling me I had two CD's in the machine. Imagine that and the numbers didn't match. I only had one in there. I don't know where they got the second one unless they pulled it out of their A..! I still haven't been able to get the GRAW working. I have installed and uninstalled numerous times but I don't quit until I cut it in half!!! I even got one of my joy sticks working again ( the cheaper one) but it's not the same one that was working a couple of days ago. Lets see how long this one will work? I am getting A popping sound right before I spawn into BF2 and it freezes my game for about 3o seconds (timed) and then it releases it to play normal (at my age I can't afford to waste 30 seconds waiting on anything). I heard that there was a sound card issue with the 2ZS Platinum so I am trying to fix that also. Gee a good workers job is never done? I think somebody is trying to bust what balls I got left! Alrightee then! Has anyone heard about an issue with the 2ZS Platinum sound card?

I finally found where lockdown stored them... :-) The biggest complaint I have with the game is that, even on the 'difficult' setting, the game is WAY too easy to complete.......

Squad57
07-27-2006, 01:54 PM
Brit- It's not that it is too easy, Your just that darn good at it!!!

Sgt_Sl@ughter
07-27-2006, 02:02 PM
Brit...somehow when I changed the respawn setting on the dedicated server last night, the diffiuclty reset back to normal....that in conjunction with Crazy's constant lobbing of grenades from his hand-held launcher may have been what made it too easy LOL....:D

Just let me know and I am willign to turn respawn off as well....that may force us to stop the Run and Gun, Doom style gameplay ;)

PS nice Pics....

Iowabrit
07-27-2006, 02:03 PM
nah, it's way easier than say, ravenshield or GRAW, slaughter and I were completing maps in 3-5 minutes last night..

Iowabrit
07-27-2006, 03:38 PM
well, that might explain it lol
