Ok dj and P1 - get ready for Baltimore to make Manning their bitch this coming weekend! "...and a sack by Thomas", "...and a sack by Suggs"...."intercepted by Reed", etc. :D
The ONLY thing that bothers me is obviously Manning is awesome....and Rolle SUCKS this year. I see the Colts taking full advantage there.
Since the Colts squashed the Chiefs' running game...I don't see Jamal Lewis being a factor either.
Other than that....get ready for your team to come home PURPLE!

I really don't care who wins because it is only giving them false hope. Can you say SAN DIEGO SUPER CHARGERS!

Hmmm - I figured you would be a fan of the Buccanneers living where you do! The Ravens could take the Chargers...

I live in Tampa but I am from San Diego. Another powerhouse football team also lives there, San Diego State Aztecs...........hahahaha........that was a joke.

Navy beat Army, so all is well in the universe. Pro football post season is like desert.
Since the C**** left in 84, three words can not be spoken in my house - C****, Ursay, and Mayflower. I call them then Indy Horseshoes.
Baltimore is rigged in Purple and ready for action. Just bring it!

Being 35, I was just a kid when the C**** left town in the middle of the night. I certainly understand the hatred of Irsay, and even though I was young, I do remember the blue and white all over town. Had a C**** jacket in school too. I remember in grade school, there was a father-son dinner and Johnny Unitas was the guest. I remember meeting him and getting his autograph - he seemed like a giant to me at that time!
What I don't understand, is why Irsay had to take the history with him? Why he had to continue to use the name, uniforms and colors (its probably because he was a cheap bastard and didn't want to spend money changing anything). I've watched C**** games in the past 10 - 15 years and heard references to Unitas and others...it just doesn't fit when they speak of them now since they were BALTIMORE C****.
Yeah...we "stole" a team too, but there are two main differences. One, the NFL executives HATE Baltimore - look how long we tried getting another team and how many times other cities were chosen over Baltimore. Two, even though Modell's name is mud in Cleveland, they got to keep the history, the name, and the colors to use again (which didn't take long to get another team).
It took awhile for the Ravens to take ahold of me. Like most people, after the C**** left, I became an Oakland Raiders fan before they left for LA...then a Chiefs fan. There's still a lot of people around here that refuse to root for the Ravens and accept them as the home team. I'm still sore I lost the naming game. My vote was Baltimore Homicides - imagine a chalk outline on the helmet and a yellow stripe for "Police Line - Do Not Cross"! I mean if we're going to promote Baltimore....why not the fact that it is one of the most deadliest cities in America?!?
So this game means a lot of different things here on Saturday. All team history and resentment aside....the Ravens will still make Manning their bitch and the C**** will go home purple. After all, team toughness can be decided on one thing: our prison-fed crew is tougher than your corn-fed crew! LOL

I think think the Homicide name is being reserved for the Detroit expansion team that everyone over here is begging for.
For proof of a movement to start a new team in Detroit go to
www.firemillen.com
It's kind of like domain names that people reserve in the hopes that someone will want to buy it from them one day.
Other possibilities are the Detroit:
Ghosts of the unsolved homocies,
Unemployed,
Vacant tenants,
or
Lazy ellected officials,
The logo of the last name proposal will have one of those "Be back at" signs you always see up at the cleaners during lunch.
AT LEAST YOU GUYS HAVE FOOTBALL. Going to a lions game is like watching . . . well it's not like anything else that I can describe. Just imagine a football town who has an owner that won't fire a GM who has a .250 winning percentage under his tenure.
Football sucks.

LMFAO “chalk outline and yellow police tape”, “Baltimore Homicides” yeah. I can see myself in the stands yelling, “go Homies go”. The chain gang would wear bright orange jumpsuits instead of black and white.
Our great minds think alike, because I sent in “Baltimore Bullets”. yeah. That’s right. That NBA team left in 1973, so I thought the name could be re-loaded (re-cycled). “Baltimore Hollow-points” and “Baltimore Wad-cutters” did not take either. Looting and shooting – it’s the Baltimore Way.
OK my brother. I know you are trying to help me heal, but this wound never heals because I was cut deep to the bone. Once I debris it with this post, I will feel better, and will be able to shout even more obscenities at the Indy Horseshoes. And after the Ravens win, I will bask in the glow….until next fall…and then the torment will repeat each and every fall until the Indy franchise dissolves. It was not that they left, but the manner in which they left.
It goes deep because I grew up with the C****. Game day was The Day. My family and I would travel across town to my uncle’s house was on 33rd Street. As a group we would watch the game and eat dinner together. Memorial Stadium was a block away, a huge structure. On the front was the dedication made in 1954 by the Mayor, the City Council and the people of Baltimore, of a monument to those who fought and served and made the supreme sacrifice for this country, “Time will not dim the glory of their deeds”. My father and his brothers fought in those wars, and years later, my cousins and I would serve. We would sit in those seats, yell for the C****. When we not there, we listened to the game on the radio, or watched it on TV. It was woven into the fabric of Baltimore and our lives. We ate at The Golden Arm Restaurant occasionally, but ate at Gino’s once a week. We played little league football, high school football. Game Day was home.
On Monday, I watched WJZ-TV, re-broadcast the pictures of the night that Irsay sneaked off with the team. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh Martha Fokker, the wound re-opened. It was O’dark early. He and Mayflower stole the team under the concealment of darkness and cut us all. I was deployed in 84 when I heard the news. “Mr. Pulver sir, your team is gone. Are you gonna root for the Redskins now?” It felt like a piece of me was cut out.
For years afterward, the C**** Marching Band wandered the streets in various parades, homeless. They were not paid, they were volunteers. We all wanted the team back until reality set in. We disconnected ourselves from the C****.
There are two diametrically opposed views of football. The teamwork view and the economic view. Those who are emotionally attached and those emotionally detached zombies who take economic advantage of the emotionally attached people. Those who sweat and train and practice and love their team mates and those clueless ones who know only the color of money. The view from the field and the view from the owner’s box. Us and him.
My daughter told me last night that her friend’s dad spent $1000.00 for seats ten rows up from the field.
Those concearned with money, took the team. Those concearned with money, squirreled away 280 million of the taxpayers, for a later stadium bribe. Those concearned with money, leveled Memorial Stadium and its inscription. Those concearned with money failed to erect a new re-dedicated Memorial Stadium, but put up a “<insert your highest bidder company name here> Stadium. First it was PSI Net Stadium, they folded and now its called M&T Bank Stadium. When Jonny U passed, you think they would have a second chance at a proper stadium name - but no. Towson State University renamed their stadium after the City failed to do so.
My family is a sports family. My sons and daughter play/played in high school. We connect to the players on the field. We went to Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis and watched many a game with my brother's family. Later, when Baltimore finnaly got a team, we bonded, because we waited for so long for them. We know the history. We go the stadium occasionally (because of the huge event cost). When we are not there, we watch the game together on TV. It is a family event.
Thanks in advance to the Baltimore Poe-lice that will keep them from looting, shooting and burning after the game.
This game against Indy is “Us against The Man”. Festivus has begun. The City is illuminated in purple. The stadium will be insane. I am looking forward to Manning being the featured victim on the show “Jacked UP”.
Bring it Indy. Why wait. Bring it. Bring it now.

Well on honestly I have 1 thing to say .
1, Thanks for the great team and truthfully My favorite color is blue , so the colts fit me just fine . I will sit back and watch this game and think how the hell it is possible that so a rich team in history came from a town like b-town . I will be watching the game and watching manning cut those convicts up with his razor like passes .
P.S. On a side note The Colts was 1 month away from packing their bags and leaving Indy for L.A last season in threats due to wanting a new stadium . The major point here is ? Indianapolis showed how much the colts meant to them and is currently building a $288 million stadium . I think that says it all about that .
All is fun take care !:D

It is sad that professional sports has come to this. From the owners to the players, it is all about money. Not history, nastalgia, not even pride and making records. Just to hear T.O. or Randy Moss talk makes my blood boil. We all know Randy Moss has been quoted that he plays when he feels like it or when questioned why he wasn't catching the balls thrown to him that day, he states that he was pissed off and didn't feel like catching it. No, I don't see any of them two making it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Let's talk about some owners in other professional sports. Marion Lemeuix (please forgive my spelling), former player and current co owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins, wants to move the team to Kansas City if he does not get his stadium. That would be a tragedy as well. They will be taking away a small bit of trivia that no one really ever thinks about. Pittsburgh is the only city that has 3 professional team in different sports that have the same team colors, Black and Gold. Not to mention what the Penguins have accomplished on the ice. This is one of the several reasons why I primarily a college football fan. The players play harder, they give it their all and the team cannot skip town at a whim. There is one thing you need to remember about college football, "Win or go to the F@%king House".

Many years from now, Peyton Manning dies and goes to heaven. When he gets there, he is greeted by God himself.
God says, "I have a special house just for you. Right this way." God shows Peyton a beautiful house, in blue and white, and draped with Indianapolis Colts flags everywhere.
Peyton says, "Thank you God. That is very generous!" Then Peyton walks behind his house and sees a HUGE house all in purple and black. The sidewalks are gleeming in purple and there are huge Baltimore Ravens flags draping the sides of the house.
Petyon Manning says to God, "God. I am very appreciative of this wonderful house, but I was probably the great player in my time. I was a community leader and an all around great guy. Do not take offense, but why does Ray Lewis get such a wonderful house that completely dwarfs mine?"
God says, "That is not Ray Lewis house, that is my house."

A little school girl named Jessie in Indianapolis is in her classroom. Her teacher asks all the students in the class, "Who in this class is an Indianapolis Colts fan?" All the children raise their hands except little Jessie.
The teacher asks the little girl, "Do you not like the Colts Jessie?"
Little Jessie says, "My parents are Ravens fans."
The teacher says, "You know Jessie, you don't have to like all of the same things as your parents, or do exactly what they do. What if your mother was a prostitute and your father a drug dealer? Would you be a prostitute too?"
"No" says Jessie, "then I would be a Colts fan."

I agree this is really what sports has become. Here are my picks:
THE WEEK OF THE ROAD DOG
Indianapolis + 4 vs Baltimore / 42 under
Philadelphia +6 vs New Orleans / 49 under
<<<<<<<<<<<>> McFEELY"S >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<<<<<<< LOCK OF THE WEEK >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Seattle +8.5 vs Chicago / 37 over
New England +4.5 vs San Diego / 47 over
I like the underdog in all the games this week. I am not sure of McNair he is tough and brittle, but 4 points is 4 points for the Horseshoes. New Orleans is the cinderella this year, but Philly is due with Garcia and 6. I still think Grossman is overrated, but I see this game as low scoring and close too many points to give up.. The NE - SD game is my "out on the limb" pick. I just don't think Rivers is ready to take it to the next level, the both defenses will keep it close and high scoring.
Remember

Well it is on topic but maybe the example I gave had too much flair. You guys are all waxing nostalgic about your teams coming and going. I agreed with the consensus it is business and money. If you go to a sports betting site they have wagers for everything down to who catches the last pass or gets injured first. If I hit 1 of those picks I made I would be happy. Good to see that I can still get you to fire up the old flamethrower in the name of everybody else on this board.

Just a programming note: I saw on ESPN Sportcenter yesterday a 5 minute piece on the Colts leaving Baltimore history. It really was good. They interview mostly folks that are in the Raven's Roost club who were/are diehard Colts fans. The history of the band. They show the film clips of the vans leaving and Mayor Shaefer calling Bob Irsay names. They had Tom Matte going off on how he is considered an Indy Colt in the record book when he never even played in the city. They do a history breakdown of the 31 years of the Baltimore Colts and the 24 years of the Indy Colts. Bottom line Baltimore version have a better winning percentage and 3 NFL titles than the Indy. It really piles it on. I can see why Baltimore folks have a little animosity towards the Indy Colts. Watch out for it this weekend they may replay it on ESPN News or regular ESPN.
Just a question though. Are there any black football fans in Baltimore? ESPN only interviewed white people. I mean I watch "The Wire" on HBO and there seems to be a discrepancy there. Just curious.

Yes---a TON. Why they didn't interview anyone sounds like a job for the "Racial Extortionist" Jesse Jackson!!! Sounds like ESPN could pay through the nose. Granted, the majority of Ravens fans I've seen at the game are white...just reflects the population of the surrounding area (counties included). Baltimore City itself is probably 80-90% black (as you see in "The Wire"). I guess most of the Baltimore City population cannot afford to go to the game (since a lot of the City is poor). I don't know where to find the stats, but I'm sure the majority of ticket holders are season ticket holders (thus the great discrepancy).

That should have been called the "Toilet Bowl". Brutal game to watch but the Colts kicked more field goals than the Ravens. The Colts interception at the 1 yard line was the deciding factor....took the wind out of their sails for sure!
Good luck next week...you'll need it!

Yes they will need it next week. If New England manages to beat the impressive Chargers (which I think is doutful), the Colts will play at home. If not they will go to San Diego and play. One thing I can say about the Colts, they invested time and money in a real sore spot on thier team, their field goal kicker. Getting rid if the clutch time choking Vanderjagt and luckily getting Vinatieri to sign on has helped them substantially.

Oh......Boy.........I cant wait for #2 Post.
The defenses contained the offenses. So the game became a field goal kicking competition. Even the bounce shots off of the cross bar count. Football is a game of inches. Crucial plays, on both sides, were decided by a couple inches.
I still love to hate The Horseshoes. I hope they get their clock cleaned next week.

All I can say to all those who don't give rat's asses. Road Dogs Ruled 4 for 4 against the spread! Just kidding.
The Colt - Raven's game was awesome. The interception at the goal line was defintely the turning point. The Raven's D was giving up the sideline pass too easy. That showed their respect to Addai as a runner. You gotta hand it to Manning, he played like a guy who finally realized that there is no "I" in team. New England will be the test.
