Hey guys,

Does anyone have any sugestions what I should do with BF2?

Problem: In multiplayer only; the game dumps to desktop at least 3 to 4 times in an hour . I get no error messages of any kind, teamspeek dose not miss a beat, no other problems.

I'm just looking for ideas before I uninstall and reload the hole game. The problem is with BF2 only! No other games are affected; GRAW, C&C, NFS, nothing else.

Thanks, much apperciated.

you may want to read some of the things at tweak guide....maybe clearing out some of the shader files...or something of that nature might help....its worth trying before reloading the game

Hedge, if you end up having to re-install you can back up your game preferences so you won't have to re-setup all your favorite button configs and what not.

I decided to run it in single player last night for about an hour. It didn't dump to desktop, but after about 3 maps it just crached... Blue screen of death. Windows says it is a device driver, but does not indicate what device. Had this issue before... had to re-format my HD.

Hey Heenalu,

Thanks for the info. I did a bunch of clean up on my PC and it seems to be working as advertised for now... time will tell.

Don't worry Ninja I didn't forget about you... thanks.

The true test will be on Saturday night in the match...

OH YAH, ROO GET YOUR ASS ON THE PC SATURDAY NIGHT.

do what I did, carry your BF2 disks very carefully to the trash can and throw them in..... quickly followed by your BF2142 disks (not really, but most times I play those games, thats what I feel like doing).

Did it say "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"? Did you check Device Manager? If not check it and look for an error there. You can always uninstall, then reinstall the driver. There is some malware going around that is duplicating or rewriting IRQ paths. It attaches to driver files and causes conflicts. You have to delete that driver and use a fresh new driver. I have seen it a few times in the past couple of months. Try running scans in Safe Mode with Ad-Aware and SpyBot.

Try to get as much information from the BSOD as possible. Annoying as they are, the info is very helpful in tracking down a solution.

Here is a link to a site that outlines and explains a good prevention plan. The program's he suggests are pretty good. I have not used all of them, but I am sure that all the other team techies might know about some of them.

i would say that if what mcfeely said doesn't work, do a reinstall of the game. completely take the game off the hd and everything that came with it. then reinstall everything. annoying, yes. will it work, maybe. is it sometimes just easier to start all over than spend days/weeks trying to figure out a pc problem, yes...........
