To all those out there still running PCs with AGP video cards like me, there is one (maybe two) last great upgrades before you will be forced to upgrade MoBo, Video Card, Power Supply, Probably RAM, Probably CPU, etc.

Just thought I would share.
(I have the 7800GS and got right before the new year at $179)

NVIDIA 7800GS AGP ($159 after rebate)

(If you are running anything less than an ATI x850 or NVIDIA 6xxx series this would be a big improvement but may also require a upgraded power supply with ample 12v Amps)

ATI x1950 Pro AGP ($219 after rebate)

(More powerful than the 7800GS above and probably the last card for AGP.)

I was in the same boat, but I was able to go to PCIe with minimal cost. Due to the fact that I already had an AGP motherboard with a socket 939 CPU (Athlon 64 3500+).

I picked up a great little DFI NF4 Infinity at Newegg for $72. Since it was also a socket 939, I could use my old CPU and memory without having to buy new. Then the only other cost was the video card, which was an ATI x1900GT for $149. So my total upgrade price was about $220.

That took my 3Dmark06 score from 1900 (using an ATI X800 XT) to a 3600, and I was able to run Rainbow Six - Vegas. I wasn't happy with that particular card, so I returned it and got an eVga GeForce 8800 (which now scores 6312), but there are a lot of good PCIe cards under $200 as well, and they will run faster than their AGP counterparts.

So If you have a 939, it's another option...

Not bad, the only thing I dont like with alot of these last gen AGPs are the corner cutting on the pixel pipes.
