of my computer sometimes not booting up all the way and when I restart it, I get sent to the system setup screen. Here it says that the system time/date is not set?

How old is your PC or more importantly, how old is your motherboard? Does it only happen only at startup when the computer has been shut off for a while, or does your PC reboots itself? Don't panick because I mention the motherboard. I don't think you need a new one. You may simply need to replace the watch battery that powers the BIOS memory when the computer is shut off. Some of the other experts may shed some more light on this , but what I mentioned can happen and I have seen it before.

PC/motherboard are from 10/2003. It only does this during start up. It has never rebooted itself.

the onboard battery going isn't a bad guess. that would prolly be my first guess too. a 2 dollar battery will fix that, any retailer. that would be the first thing to try.

My quick 30 second guess would be the battery too.

Okie Dokie...thanks guys. I'll give that a shot. I think I found it - kind of looks like the back of a watch. Got Panasonic something or other on it. I can get that anywhere eh? Thanks again.

Should be able to. Just make sure it's the right type and you should be alright. Note: You'll have to reconfigure any BIOS changes you made since you built or bought the system. If you haven't changed any BIOS settings, don't worry about it.

I think you are on it. It is about the size of a quarter.
