Ok guys I have figured out that to have your custom skin you cant add a new car folder(as in number that doesnt exist)and add it in your game without it being loaded on the server, if you dont have them on the server as well you get kicked when you join. I made a nonexisting car number on my computer and on the server and it worked just fine but im need to test and see if someone else comes in without that folder if they dont get a mismatch. You can add your custom skin to a default folder and have it work the only problem is everyone else see's you in the default folder(childress, dei, roush, what have you) so if you want your car to be in your own team racing folder we need to do some testing, its early in the morning right now and noone is on to test with so I hope to do it later today.

Ok, ragnar came in and helped me out, when he entered the game without the car file it told him unknown car, cant compete against unknown car, so new number files wont work, the cars will have to be added under a default folder, so if you want to drive a chevy you will have to pick a team and place your car under there car(joe gibbs 20,11,18, etc.) if you need help just let me know.

Klr thanks for testing things out. I am gonna make this a Sticky and ask others to put in what they have experienced when testing client/client and client/server compatability.
I think we should try and use existing car files that match Make and Number and just add custom skins. This way even when we race with other that do not have the car file the car number is the same. (So when you are yelling at the driver in the # car he knows who you are talking about. ;) ). Unless what you said last night initially would still work...that is make a duplicate existing car Number file, no matter what the Make is, and hve a completely new car in that file, like a #20 Ford. Even if others did not have your custom car file they would see you in a #20 car. I just think the car numbers help out as I do not think everyone always has the drivers names toggled on.

Download the Team Red Bull COT Car Installer here (http://www.digitalreactor.com/downloads/racing/rfactor_downloads/cars/TRB_COT_Installer.exe).
It will install the custom skins and not overwrite the original files. Let me know if you have any problems with the install.

Everyone running OSGRS NASCAR Season 2 will need to keep checking this thread for updated car downloads.
Kilr posted 3 custom skin files.
1. His custom cars (download (http://www.team-osg.com/racing/rFactor_downloads/custom_cars/kilrks.exe))
2. An update to his car pack that includes custom skins for the Pitbox, Helmet and Uniform (download (http://www.team-osg.com/racing/rFactor_downloads/custom_cars/kilrupdate.exe))
3. A custom car he did for Matt aka cc32. (download (http://www.team-osg.com/racing/rFactor_downloads/custom_cars/mattscot.exe))
He has them up on the OSG FTP Server under "rFactor_downloads". (remember the FTP is shutdown during peak gaming hours so as to not lag out the box)
I have uploaded copies to the web server's racing section. If you need help with the FTP Server look for the info here (http://www.team-osg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=950). If you wish to download them from the web server you can get them here (http://www.team-osg.com/racing/rFactor_downloads/custom_cars/).
Great job Kilr. *Update: Wow...excellant job, great lookng cars!! I will work on getting some pics posted here in the forums...in a Showroom thread (http://www.team-osg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1632).*

Looks good tookin, just wanted to let you know that in your skins folder you only need one default car file you dont have to have all of them, just add one and name it 14, also one of your templates doesnt have the lights on the front didnt know if you did that on purpose or not just wanted to let you know but the cars look good its nice to have someone else on board to sling a little paint.

New and Updated Skins!
I have uploaded Lightstrikes custom car pack complete with an installer. He e-mailed me the skins and I just made sure they would install in the correct directory.
Please get Lightstrikes car installer from either the OSG FTP or from here (http://www.digitalreactor.com/downloads/racing/rfactor_downloads/cars/lightstrikes18.exe).
ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE UPDATED THE TEAM RED BULL COT CAR PACK. The custom COT skins were twice the size of the original skin textures (5.4mb vs 2.7mb). I found the solution to getting them to export at the default 2.7mb size.
Please re-download the TRB COT Installer so as to reduce the texture size of the files loaded when the custom skins are displayed. This may resolve the graphics lag some were experiencing.
Download the updated Team Red Bull COT Car Installer here (http://www.digitalreactor.com/downloads/racing/rfactor_downloads/cars/TRB_COT_Installer.exe).
TIP: Anyone else creating custom cars be sure to save as DDS using 1 Bit Alpha and not Explicit Alpha.

CUSTOM SKINS WILL NOT APPEAR IN NROS V5 WITHOUT CHANGING THE DDS FILE NAMES.
Since V5 only has COT models it actually makes painting car skins easier. But the naming of the skins has changed. There is only 1 default skin file "#.dds", where # = car number. The additional skins folder still works there is just no need to add default skin files to pair up with the custom skin. Just make the same folder structure and drop you custom named DDS file in each subfolder. It will be there in game as a custom skin without messing with the original files.
I will have the Team Red Bull Racing intall fixed by Friday night. Oh, and since the V5 did not have chrome rims I re-skinned the rims for the Toyotas if anyone else wants them.
