If you want a piece of Bill Gates, you will have to get in line behind me.

Hey Platypus, went through the same crap, no quick fix as far as I know. Pretty brave to switch them both at the same time! Good luck!

Did you try to install mobo first and make sure it worked?

Then i would install the card but make sure everything runs right first.

Did you get the BIOS loaded and updated ok?

Maybe you need to change a setting on the bios screen?

What motherboard is it?

(I don't want a piece of Bill Gates i want a piece of his inheretence after you kill him)

Looks like you're up and running. You should be rockin' with that setup.

For future reference to anyone updating their motherboard, plan to re-install windows anytime you pop in a new mobo. There are so many board specific peices of software running (via drivers, ethernet, etc) that even if windows works without the re-install, you should do it anyway.

That and it's Microsoft's way of basically marking your windows xp install based on your hardware setup. Anytime you change hardware XP requires a reactivation because it now has a new Computer ID based on the hardware. Every PC has a unique Computer ID based on their configuration it's how they do this activation.

yeah i had to crack the actavation thing again but i have a good crack tucked away for just that reason. I do actually have an org winxp dell install disk and a ligit instaill id but it wont work any more with out the crack. I thumb my nose at bill while i install a free copy of xp and then crack it :P

LOL Ya i reconfigured my comp a while ago and xp said there were some significant hardware changes ...you need to reregister...blah blah blah and that crap.

Anyway i never did reinstall my windows....that might be why my windows media player never works. I keep getting a error downloading codec everytime i try to play something.
