Pongo, I am upgrading the PC I use for racing with a mix of new and old parts. You may want to post the specs on the parts you are planning on bringing over from your existing system. Especially the power supply, video card, and Ram. Certain newer mobo's may make the use of older existing parts impossible. I know we have guys here that can steer ya in the right direction.

Just got my upgrades done,

Asus P5N32-E-Sli MOBO
OCZ 850 Gamer Xtreme Power Supply
Intel E6600 Core Duo Processor 2.4Ghz 4 MB cache
4 Gb of OCZ PC2-6400 800 MHz DDR2 ram
Evga 8800GTX KO ACS3 768Mb Video Card
2 Qty Segate 320GB 16Mb 7200 RPM SATA Drives, in RAID (640 GB Drive)
and best of all

Thermaltake VE 2000BWS Liquid cooled Case. CPU temp is 25 degrees at idle.

Bench marked 3D MArk 05 14886.

I would have some spare parts nut the old stuff always goes to Prvt_R to upgrade his computer.

I will post some pictures.

Do lots of research before you buy. I bought the 800 MHZ ram and I can only currently run it at 666.7 MHZ due to windows Xp. I could run 3Gb at 800, but I paid for 4 GB and I am going to use it .

Also had a B#$%@ of a time to get the RAID to run, being a RAID virgin and all.

It was quite an upgrade from the Athlon XP processor.

I have read a few different times about 4gb of ram slowing things down. Can't remember exactly why, probably an XP bottleneck of some sort. Otherwise it sounds like one heck of an upgrade you did. If your interested Tomb made me a userbar for the intel processor. I have the same as you. Love it.

Hard to type.......salivating...........mmmmmm, RAM...........that's what I'm looking for, layouts like that...I'm not too worried about saving parts from my current set-up, as It'll give my 9 year old son something to learn on, hardware-wise.

If there are any more set-ups out there that you guys are running and liking, let me know! Much appreciated! I haven't looked at the MOBOs since the dual core stuff started.

In case you haven't read it yet, we all did some bragging a while back in this thread..http://www.team-osg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1086

Good luck and happy MOBO hunting.

Who would have thought Microsoft could do something like the bottleneck. I would be interested in the core duo banner.
