Wow...interesting. Thanks parasite for the tempting vid. Gonna go try and find more about it. Hope some of what was shown will be possible in game play and not just cut scene glory.

Sweet!!!!!!!!! Nice to see the move away from WW2 - I'm sure most of the clip is from cut scenes but it looks great.

It's hard to tell but you can clearly see a mix of CG and real-time in there.

Damn!
I was just about to post the same thing. Way to beat me to it.
I think we'll all need new computers . . . or just me! :)

call of duty might just entice me back to their series after their spectatcular failure with COD2... but like shop said, I know I'll at least need a new pc as well.

Snippets found on the web:
1) "Fourzerotwo, IW's community manager, has released a statement regarding the release date and platform Call of Duty 4 will appear on:
Some cool things to notice is that all that footage is taken directly from the SP campaign, so you're looking at the actual gameplay you'll get to play. The only exception of course are the logos, waving flags, etc. All the action is actual in-game action captured from the SP of the game.
Platform: PC
Release: Fall 2007"
2) "Supposedly Infinity Ward, the makers of the first and second Call of Duty games, will be returning to make the 4th installment in the series. One of the awesome details mentioned was that while most shooting games has players and enemies heads with two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16, which will let gamers be able to blow off pieces of the enemy's face one at a time. But it won't be Nazi ears you'll be aiming at, Call of Duty 4 will most likely (http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=36100) skip World War II and instead focus on present day battlefields. No word yet on when we can expect the game, but it should be available for PC as well as various next generation consoles."
3) (From the Infinity Ward forums): "Today was the big day and thus far it has not disappointed. We finally released the first look at Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare via a national broadcast on the NFL Draft of a 60 Second version, and an Extended Un-cut (with all the really cool moments) version on the new Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare community site CharlieOscarDelta.com (http://www.charlieoscardelta.com/).
The reveal didn't go off without a hitch as the extended 90 second trailer leaked onto the interwebs late last night (friday) and spread like a wildfire; before long it was on every major video and news site around. In addition, the HD 720 p version had been compressed to 24 FPS instead of the original 60 FPS version that truly shows what the game looks like. So if you think you saw the gimpy 24 FPS version (blurred graphics, less detail) be sure to seek out the FULL 90 Second 60 FPS version IN ALL ITS GLORY. (I'm sure its made its way around the internets.)
We're really excited to finally be able to share the game with all of you, so be sure to tell us what you think of it (and the trailer) in the forums! We've been up till 6:30 AM last night reading all the comments on all the video sites and emailing them back and forth to one another, so keep them coming! Any feedback is always welcomed.
With several 100,000 downloads in just hours after its launch on the internets, there was no shortage of comments to browse either, each with their own flare. (i.e. "I just shat myself.")

What is it? It's intended to be your HQ for all community spearheaded activities which allows you a first hand look at Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare specific news, insight, assets, extended trailers, dev videos and other game media goodies. This is the first time we've taken the approach of having a community site SOLELY intended for Community Relations, but I'm excited about the possibilities and the opportunity it will allow us to get you (the community) more actively involved in the development of Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare. I'm fighting the good fight to make sure it says that purpose and isn't turned into a sugarcoated nameless, faceless, marketing machine. http://www.infinityward.com/community/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif Via la Community!
The Communication Train has left the station...
As one of you so elegantly put it, its now time for more 'dialogue' and less 'monologues'. I couldn't agree more!
Now that we've finally announced the project we've been working passionately on over the last few years, we can finally start getting all of you not only excited about its development, but INVOLVED in it closely. Of course we won't be able to delve into, and answer, every question you might have, but we can start gradually opening the flood gates and getting into the nitty gritty of what you expect, what you want, and just how we can make Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat not just an amazing game, but something we all had a part in creating."

Speaking of CharlieOscarDelta.com, I registered there. When you register, you can view that clip at any size, definition.
I also am trying to contact the developers and offering OSG as a beta multiplayer server test place since we have "mature" members that can give them actual feedback (instead of the juveniles that are on the forums at that web site). I'll let you know if I get any response....doubtful, but it would be pretty interesting eh?
Call of duty was always fun, though the maps always too small. I hope that they really expand the map size and deliver a new meaning to FPSs.
Clips is bad ass.... Thanks for posting it Parasite.

Well the Total COD4 website is up. Here is link. http://www.totalcod4.com/page.php?do=about It looks very interesting. I would like to see a Co-op game more than another pretty shooter. We as a group played that mode best with JO and RS6. Good times.....Good times..........

That looks very promising. The Cal of Duty WWII games we the best of that genre, IMHO, so it's good to see them go "modern".

I've been wondering if someone would come out with a new FPS game that would make us want to add it to our series of games at |OSG|. On top of that I hope that we can find a new primary FPS game for the team...just hope our PC's will be able to handle it.

A preview was posted here:

online in a variety of modes, including Deathmatch, Capture-the-Flag, Search & Destroy, and some new game types not yet revealed. IW has also added several popular COD 1 & 2 mods to Modern Warfare's multiplayer. Chief among these is Realism Mode, which removes the HUD and offers "true" weapon damage.

Interesting...on page 3 - they don't have vehicles in multiplayer due to the various soldier class bonuses.

I like that. It says November 2007 is the release. It gives most of us time to upgrade.
I also liked this:
"Each class is defined by three perks. Some of the perks are fairly straightforward. Dead Silence lets you walk without making a sound; GPS Jammer keeps you from showing on radar. But there are also some unique and very interesting perks to compliment the standards. The one that seems certain to pique the interest of many gamers is Last Stand. When you take enough damage that you should be dead, you won't fall to the ground. Instead, you pull out your pistol and have a full clip to fire before shuffling off this mortal coil (unless someone pops you). You can't keep yourself from dying, but you might be able to take someone with you. Or, you can choose the "coward's way out" by holding down a button and take your own life to deny your opponent a full kill."
They added a the Punisher Perk! Goodbye Cartillery..............
