Yep, heard about this about a month ago. It was brought up on the SecurityNow! podcast. Microsoft knew about the .ani exploit months in advance too and decided not to do anything about it.

Yeah I heard about the exploit a while back. This was the first time I saw a popular site scammed by it. I knew some guys here would go to Tom's when they wanted specs on hardware.
