Punisher

I picked up the new FPS game Armed Assault. It is a more involved than BF2, ie it is not a run and gun game, it is more tactical and realistic FPS type. I was wondering how many of you in the OSG nation has the game and what the viability is having an AA night. Thanks.

I have a copy, but trying to get it to work right on Vista seems to be a challange and a half.

I checked out the main site and this guide http://dslyecxi.com/armattp.html . I may spring for this game. I didn't know it was based on Op Flashpoint. I had that game back in the day (5 years ago really (I just like saying back in the day) ). Let me know more about the game play Punisher. Sell it!
EDIT: Don't bother trying to sell me. This has sold me http://dslyecxi.com/armattp.html#situationalawareness . This is the coolest thing. I gotta have it.

Do not like to run well on my system. I think it would be a great game, but with all the realism mods that we have for BF2, why spend money.

I have played the Euro Release Demo and the US Release Demo. The US Demo was improved but the game still hits the frames per second pretty hard. It is a good looking game with setting maxed but I also find it unplayable that way. On a game play note it would definately be more like...nothing at all BF2 related. You definately have to think, be slow and deliberate. There is a known issue with the AI being too accurate from to far out that has kinda taken the fun out of COOP play but that is expected to be fixed. Also be prepared to print out the keyboard layout as you'll need it handy to control everything you can control in the game.
I am sure it is alot like the first time you played BF2:PR. It was very frustrating cuz the pace was different, the strategy different, etc. But when it finally came all together and you found yourself in a squad that was rolling...it was sweeter than any round of Vanilla could be. I am sure success in this game will fell that way cuz you will have had to work for it...together.
I would strongly suggest trying out the US Demo available from their site and other gaming sites.
Just my 2 cents.

Downloading the demo now. It looks very interesting. I can see some good fun if we could get a bunch of people on board with this one.

Well, I gave the demo a whopping 20 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore. I dunno...I'd be willing to try it again I guess.
My complaints:
- As Tomb mentioned, the graphics issue - I didn't try the settings maxed, but the default graphics were pretty unspectacular. I don't know if that caused my complaint with the movement in the game (which I think is sloppy) but I felt like I was on an amusement park ride that I couldn't get off.
- The controls are absolutely ridiculous. You wouldn't need just a print out cheat sheet...I think you'd need about 3 months to get them all committed to any useful memory. They even have a keyboard command for saluting...c'mon a little overboard???
- The demo had a few single player missions-I played the first one - got to kill one guy (don't know how I spotted the enemy before my "team") and it was over. The constant voice chatter is extremely annoying. Kind of like in BF2 hearing "Enemy infantry spotted!" every two seconds.
- The flying training mission in the demo (trying to do it like America's Army??) was funny. In America's Army, they would walk you through EXACTLY what to do. In this, they flash a screen shot of the keyboard commands real quick and tell you to start it up and go to 20,000 feet. Nothing comes up showing which key to use to start or how to fly so....I flipped it...next I tried multiplayer.
- You are dropped into the middle of a map somewhere - seemed like the only spawn point in the map? Had no clue where the rest of my teammates where. Had a guy in a humvee shooting at me from 200+ meters away and had no clue how he even knew I was the enemy - could only make out an outline of him.
I don't know...to me, if you gotta spend a ton of time trying to learn a game, it takes away from the fun factor. Most times, I just want to jump in and go in any game. Like I said before, I'd be willing to give the demo another try but it would really have to grab me next time for me to buy it.

Hmmmmm.........from the middle of the fence. I guess I should try the demo. I just mastered the controls on Tiger Woods 2007 on the PS3 enough to play online. That took me along time. Rainbow 6 Vegas comes out next month for the PS3. I was going to buy that to play online. ArmedA put me on the fence. I am happy with PR when it all comes together in a squad. We had a good time Friday night playing it. I do miss Co-op play. Damn this fence is getting hard.
