Last night on Joint Ops Escalation was fun. It brought back memories, especially knifing 10-20 guys in a map! It also made me realize why I was so glad BF2 was released, I never looked back (or even loaded JO on my system). The TK glitches, the "hack" where AI can see through mountains and objects to know right where you are. It was fun, but I may have had my fill.
On to BF2...I used to love to play that game. Then came bunnyhopping, dolphin diving, frag spamming, and let's not forget the guys who just plain hack. The game also has it's inherent flaws for sure. The way a guy can jump 4 feet straight up in the air from a dead standstill. Maybe to jump like that (especially with all that gear), the guy should have to crouch way down first, and take longer to do it. Also the lack of damage modeling on vehicles...OK I hit your tank with and rocket and it didn't blow up. It should maybe slow turn to the right...turret should maybe lock or have limited movement, but no, it works just like it was new. Same with helos and jets..shouldn't they spin a bit, or become hard to control?
Anyway, what I'm getting at, is the most fun I had playing BF2 was on our server when we had it set up to get all OSG on the same side. We would start out small and on other teams, but as people jumped in, we could get on our own side. We could kick hoppers, spawn rapers, and hackers, so at least that portion of the game was taken care of. I know there are scrim nights and mod nights, but for me, being on the same team, kicking ass and taking names, was the best! (some of us still complain...I won't mention names but one of them starts with "P" and ends with "unisher" -- I may have complained once or twice too) Maybe when Joint Ops interest dies out, we can try a OSG against all comers night in BF2. I really miss that!
