I've been looking around the internet and obtaining good information on setups and how to setup a car. Cruising these web boards and asking questions in them have gotten me good response and good people as contacts/friends.

I have worked on my own setups and tweaked other people's setups to improve my race car to be somewhat competitive. That is until I make one little mistake in anything, which always happens, then fall behind, lose the draft, and end up on the other side of the track while the pack races around LOL.

But while I have read and learned a lot I think I may not be directed correctly and may be developing less than optimal habits.

My question is, for those that have become good at setting up an online race vehicle, what is the process that you go through? I assume everyone takes the base qualifying or base race setups and work up from there.

* Do you setup the handling aspect of the car for the track first, then work on speed?
* What initial components get the highest attention on the setup screen to improve handling?

* Do you setup for speed first and work on the handling after?
* What components of the car in the setup screen are the most important to improve speed of the vehicle on the straightaway?

I'm running NASCAR Simracing right now but have rFactor too. Not sure about the stock car mods for rFactor according to some people I have heard from. But it sure looks good and the net code is good too. Also looking forward to the ARCA sim in the future. But for now, I'm primarily racing online with NSR. I'm hoping to learn enough about stock car setups to carry what I learn from one stock car simulation to the other.

Thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to learning the best practices to working the race car setups.
