Crash Error

I couldn't get my RS to load past the intro screens. It kept giving me the following error:

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: GenuineIntel Unknown processor @ 3203 MHz with 2046MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (9371)

General protection fault!

First of all, did you do anything wierd since the last time you played this like using a register cleaner or anything like that? I am not familiar with RS and how it starts up. If you can get to the start up screen and if there is an options selection. Click on that and see if there is anything wierd or out of whack. If not, my suggestion is to do an unistall, then a clean reinstall. but this is only a last resort.
