» COD 4 PC Single Player Demo Next Week

Yahoo Games has revealed (http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/call-of-duty-4/cod-4-the-bog-revealed/533245) that a PC single player demo of Call of Duty 4 will be released on Thursday, Oct. 11. The web site has a brief preview of the demo (called The Bog) for the Infinity Ward-Activision modern day shooter which is scheduled to be released to stores in early November.

I would suggest anyone interested try out the demo. I am busy trying out the demos of MoH: Airborne and World in Conflict to see if I am intersted enough to buy. I will do the same with COD4.

Downloading the single player demo now. It weighs in at 1.4 GB. I hope to test it out and play with the graphics to see what it takes to run it smoothly. I hope we can get some others willing to test the demo and post their feedback.

I may try to post it to the OSG FTP sometime this weekend.

Oh my God....this has got to be the Holy Grail of modern day FPS! I had to replay the beginning credits movie about 3 times before I could move on to play it because it was so good.

The demo has only one single player mission but it is absolutely incredible. The graphics, gameplay, enemy AI, squad movements....wow. I was running in the one building after initial contact and watched one of the squaddies blow open a door using a shotgun to both door frame hinges...incredible!!

Guys, this is definitely going to be THE game. I love Airborne, but a lot of you don't like WW2 games...if you dig modern combat...this is going to be it. They had BETTER spend a lot of time making multiplayer worthwhile. If they do....we'll be playing this one for a long, long time.

Balti...I agree. I just played the Single Player Demo 1 time thru and had to take a break. It was that intense.

I need to get used to the HUD and make some minor adjustment to the keyboard commands but it instantly "felt" good. The movement, the shooting, the crouching and the leaning (YAY!) all came natural from the other shooters. I still have to get used to telling how hurt I am. I was standing next to a squadmate who was getting ready to round an opening in the wall when rounds ripped thru the plaster wall and cut him down. I turned and fired back thu the wall where the plaster was now missing. A seocnd later it was quiet and when I checked the tango was dead.

The night vision is superior to all others as it does it's job but also feels like it messes with depth perception. It does not kill the framrates (at least not on mine) like in some other games.

The part of the game where you are pinned down near the overpass and the enemy have the overpass lined with rifleman was very intense. It generated a very realistsic response in that I was so focused on the threat above that I was behind cover burning thu mags targeting the rifleman for sometime before I realized I was being yelled at over the radio to get the Javelin and hit the enemy tanks that were moving past behind the rifleman. Tunnel vision happens in RL and they way they create the action it was very easy to fall into it in game. Glad I learned that lesson in the demo.;)

In my opinion, this game has a feel that blends BF2 and GRAW2 very nicely. I will definately be playing thru the single player game if the demo is any taste of how they have scripted the action.

Hell yeah Tomb - very intense. I did the "recruit" setting this morning. I just went through at regular - more difficult - got killed using vehicles for cover that were eventually blown up. Very incredible! Damn I want more LOL. One mission is not enough of a tease! Try picking up one of the sniper rifles and shooting for the heads of the insurgents ---- awesome graphics to say the least!

Holy Shit, the lead in movie gave me chills. If the game is half as intense as the movie BOOYAHHHHHH baby. I hope the multiplayer is as good. If the Poker thing tonight I am out i WILL be giving it a try.

The COD 4 Single Player Demo is uploaded to the OSG FTP in the "COD4" folder. It took 4+ hours to upload so hopefully having it onthe FTP will make it easier to get for some of you.

I am gonna try and play thru the demo again on one of the higher difficulty settings. I will look for the sniper rifle. I had a chance to pick up a Draganov but picked up a SAW instead. I will aslo look for info on if there is any chance for COOP missions.

*EDIT*

No COOP mode out of the box. Maybe with the expected extensive Mod support and community Mod will give us COOP missions.

I will also try to post a FRAPS video of in-game action from the demo.

I'm not sure why my secondary mouse buttons did't work when I tried some comand tweeks. Maybe that will get worked out . . . or it's operator error. Either way, I am SO pumped for the release. It looks like a great single player, and I'm holding my breath that the multi will be just as cool!

Hey guys...just tried it out last night.

I still need to clean the MAN JAM off my monitor. I enjoyed it alot.

However, will they be able to recreat that same intensity in multiplayer, I don't know...will have to see. I'm hoping they will come out with a multiplayer demo for us to try.

I played the demo and now I want this game. My computer can run it but on low settings. Multiplayer is all i care about. I have to save some money up to get this, but that may be awhile. Still looks great, and it has an M14(M21) in it. :D (That makes Napalm happy...)
