ok where r u guys at i was just in a server for the night and was in an ok squad it is a true squad based game and all need to work together to get anywhere in the game my opinion is this is a game worth giving a try if u like to sneak around snipe or do recon for ur squad it is also essential to cap the flag and take up points to defend it it is by far the most realistic game i think yet no more bunny hoppin crack heads ......coolio hehe jp but if u sit to long in one spot ull get spotted from somewhere around and most likely theyll light ur ass up if u dont keep an eye out at all times . i think osg with all the squad based we used to be could own some of these servers the people and squads in them usually have no idea how or what to do to take advantage of all the aspects of the game . the sniper the scout the defenders and the squad leaders transporters and air defense . the air is actually hard to fly more realistic and anything can blow u outta the sky humvee and jeeps r suseptible to damage where some look like thier low riders cause thier tires r flat and then the infantry this is anall out wargames game i give it a 10 in my book just wish i had some crew of my own to squad up with and bark out orders ..... so get off ur asses and lets rock huuuuragghhhh..............

CrazyC out.

I will look to see who is on tonight. Remember, everyone shoudl make room on Thursday nights for PR. I have added it to the OSG calendar and hopefully we can even get double digit OSG in PR. The teamwork is what makes it an awesome experience.

I played earlier tonight with Crazy...great game. Very realistic and a nice break from simply running and gunning. I can see where if you had enough guys in a squad the game would be that much more interesting. Unless something comes up, i'll be playing Thursday night...

Three Items of quick advice for the new guys.

Stay close to your squad:
Although this is a game that encourages players to join a squad, some selfish behaviors can be observed. You can join a squad, but still not act like a squad player. I still see players join a squad, thus enabling them to get the sniper kit, and run away from their squad, ignore orders, and snipe an insignificant area, while the team is losing their last flag. I have also seen players TeamKill to get a sniper kit or a helo. Joining a squad is only step one.

So, for the new guys, my advice is this: Stay close to your squad. Do not run ahead and separate yourself. When you stick together - good things happen. Close means: I can see my squadmates AND they are no further than 20 meters from me. The squad has two more eyes and one more rifle. Provide mutual protection. Leapfrog each other to cover while some move, the others are stationary and covering the movers. If you can not see what the movers are seeing, then you are too far away. Stay close, but not too close that one grenade frags all six of you. Dont turn corners and isolate yourself. If you are ahead, then take a position and cover the others while they catch up.

Spot them:
Identify your target BEFORE you fire. Use the "Spotted" feature when in doubt. This mod has a time delay when placing the cross hairs on a player, whech leads to many team kills. Always be aware of your teammates' location by using the HUD and you may not need to Spot. If the HUD shows no blue players in front of you, then fire without spending the time to spot. Teamkillers are annoying. Most servers punt and ban TK'ers.

Dont bump:
When some one is aiming, dont move near them. You will bump them off their target. Players can bump one another in this game. It is annoying when you are lining up a kill, and another player lies down next to you to get a shot off.

Those are just the first steps, it is not meant to be the complete infantry tactics manual. It is just advise to get you started.

Couple of questions for you Pulver....I mean, Your Highness!!

HUD?? Is there one? ONly way I can get a HUD up is to pull up the squad list and the map accompanies it. Maybe that's all there is???

What do you mean by the "Spotted" feature? That doesn't do much good when you don't have a hud up?? Does the "spotted" feature turn the enemies red like it use to? If so, I have not seen that work yet....or I'm doing something wrong.

It is a GREAT squad based game.....I'll be on tonight. After last night with Tomb, Ninja, Mute, Parasite, Brit and Tranzen....I'll be playing this alot more. We had a pretty good set up....although, we should have just stayed and defended our flag...oh well, we still won!!!!!

The sound effects are MUCH better than before...the shooting off in the distance...the only thing that is bad, and it's not a bad thing, if there's a truck moving, it sounds closer than it really is. Last night, Parasite and I were crawling along a fence. I was in the lead...Parasite says "There's someone on the other side of the fence"...not believe him...I look around the corner and POOF goes my head. Parasite could hear the guy walking along the side of the fence coming from behind us......was pretty cool.

I too agree, i love this game. The team work is like no other game. It definately is a game that takes time, practice and most important awareness. I will see you guys on tonight.

You can call up a map with "M" It does not take up the screen like the squad list map does.

The spotted thing does work Most of the time when I here a "spotted" call I take a knee and check my map just to see if they are around me.

I hope some of you are playing tonight because I'm aching to play.

Plus I saw his feet through the 3" gap on the bottom of the fence. After you died I keep plinking him through the fence and eventually I heard his cries for a medic.

Pulv got it right, you have to work as a team. The same goes for vehicles.....don't just go charging off on your own...........work as a section of two vehicles and cover each others moves. My biggest problem so far is actually spotting the enemy. I thought I saw some last night and ended up shooting at our other squad...not good...plus they were rightly pissed about it....ah well, its all a learning curve I guess

One thing i try to do when verifying friend or foe is compare where i'm looking against what's shown on my map. If there's no "blue dots" where I'm looking, then open up! Or, as in my case, draw attention to yourself and get killed.

Rage

I once again will agree with Pulver. Stay with your squad and use cover. The Devs have made the grass to where you are invisible at a glance. If I had to add anything it would be don't give away position just to make a kill on a lone enemy. Look for a group of 2 or more. Usually that is an enemy SL looking to lay down a rally. It takes discipline not to shoot, but the SL should let the squad know when to go hot. I would rather feed the intel back to the SL and let them direct the mission. He is the boss. The game is about objectives not kills.

Sometimes you will get left out alone when the squad gets greased and you are left alive. The other night on Qwai River I had got separated from mine that way. I ended up on the other side of our Temple objective alone. All I could do was lay down, stay hidden, give intel and look for the enemy rally point. I waited for the squad to mount the attack so I could distract from the enemy rear. (Thats right I was attacking their rear) I finally got killed when one spawned behind me. I respawned as our rally was being attacked. Then got kicked because I shot a friendly on a far hill. Jeez.

Sounds like there will be BLOOD TONIGHT!

Hey Brit, I learned the Zoom feature while manning the gun for you. I did not realize it was there. I guess that may help ID targets a little when in a vehicle. I guess not all vehciles would have them.

Also, I noticed that some weapons are not accurate unless you are prone. Stopping and moving to kneeling or prone will definately improve you accuracy. If you are shooting from next to or along side a squadmate the report from your weapon can temporarily disorient your squadmate. I was too close to the muzzle of a friendly rifle and the sound/concussion made my ears ring and my vision blur a little. I twas even worse when I ran up near a friendly APC and went prone to look thru the binos. I guess I was too far up and when he fired it rocked my world, almost like a mini stun grenade.

Tip for medics, if you are injured yourself and out of med packs look for a gear bag on the ground, friend or foe. Pick up their kit and drop their med pack. If you are with another friendly they can pick upi your med kit and heal you. When all done switch back kits.

Guys were getting really good last night calling out what the saw and where..."Movement, SE ridge, mark 170..." it gave squadmates a chance to help confirm friend or foe. I knew I did not have an accurate rifle for distance so I would pull out binos and confirm for those tracking with scopes.

I downloaded it, I get in the game but I still keeping getting connection lost, wtf?

Plenty of people still have that problem. Here were a few quotes I pulled from my seraches. Not sure if any makes sense let alone work.

I have a cable connection, and a great down load better than a T1. But still have problems, my setting in BF2 was on T1, I switched it back too cable, and the problem stopped. The game runs better too.

I generally don't get the lost connection during my playtime on BF2, but when it does happen it normally is because my recycle bin is full.

its router-related (as well as cpu/mobo related) restart your router and youll be able to play again for a while without getting kicked.

I had the same problem long time ago. Connection lost at very random time. As far as I remember It was solved by clearing the content of all the cache folders in my documentsbattlefield 2mods. Also check this link:http://www.grinn.net/blog/dev/2006/1...been-lost.html (http://www.grinn.net/blog/dev/2006/11/your-connection-to-server-has-been-lost.html) it has a list of possible solutions to the problem. Also try closing every program running in the background. I hope this will help.

This "connection lost" problem is mostly if not all routing issue with VoIP. Some firewalls are considering VoIP packets Denial of Service (DoS) attack therefore closing connection.

Try disabling VoIP in your sound settings, or shut down all firewalls (this is what EA Tech support suggested). If it works you should also be able to fix it.

That Esc trick worked for me. Immediately when it says "Problem with your Connection" press the Esc key and go to the menu. Then come back out and suddenly it's all fixed. Rinse repeat. When you press Esc your PC sends a different kind of packet to the server or DICE Stats server. Until it sees that packet sometimes it forgets you are there for some reason. I have no idea why.

I had this problem for the longest time, soooo annoying.

.:iGi:.NinjaJedi hit the problem for me right on the head. I reinstalled the network card and all was fixed. No more problems unless the server actually crashes.

The last one makes sense. Go to Windows Update and see if it has a new driver for your Network Adapter. Or go to Device Manager and select your Network Adpater and tell it to update driver. If it finds nothing select Remove Device and then reboot.

Hope this helps.

sorry, it is a typo. I misspelled Caps Lock Map.

Sorry, I was not clear. I have been playing as Squad Leader and my description is not clear when one plays as a squad member.

When you place your weapon sight over a target, after a time delay, a teammate tag will be displayed. A tag will not be displayed for enemies. No red tags for enemies, no nothin.

If that team mate is moving, it is harder to keep your weapon sight on him, and the teammate tag will not be displayed. One might misidentify him as an enemy.

The "Spotted" feature is available to the Squad Leader only. On the Caps Lock map, squad members will see what the squad leader spotted. Enemies are displayed as little ugly red things.

Whiskey, I am sure your video settings are already set to lower settings. Try reducing view distance too. It may help video lag and increase your effectiveness at close range will giving up any situational awareness at long range. Also try to disable VOIP and reduce the audio settings. Hopefuly that will free up enough resources for you to get stable frame rates. If someone pops smoke you probably will want to look away as effects like that cause the most visual lag.
