Alright, so im going to be extremely honest. COD4 kicks ass and is a fun game, but im struggling with it. Im sure everyone has noticed that you will normally find |OSG| Tranzen on the bottom of the score charts. This was not something i was use to before coming to OSG over a year ago. Playing Mohaa and the old COD's i just kicked ass. To the point, where i started going with a single shot rifle. I then was owning teams with a single shot rather than with spraying bullets around every corner. I think this switch really F__ked with my play style, so coming back to a submachine gun style of playing has been a difficult one for me. With the introduction of BF2 i started relizing that im not adjusting too well and found that i can be at the top of the charts as a medic. Thus the reason, why I became known as the clan medic (in some form or another). When someone went down, the word "Tranzen" normally came out of their mouth. lol.. especially Ninja!

Now with COD4, you have a ton of people in such a small amount of space (maps are so small) and I feel like im not really earning my keep as the different type of game play has been hard for me to adjust too. Im either stepping on a nade right when I spawn or im taking 5 steps and getting shot by someone out of no where.

With that said, i feel so much more comfortable as a sniper or using a single shot rifle. I will not get as many kills, but at the same time i wont get as many deaths. Now of course the sniper role is useless when playing sabatoge, so at times im feeling like im not doing my job as a team mate, taking out guys when i should be planting or defusing a bomb. Of course, if im the last one left... i go for it and do pretty well.

Any how, i just wanted to see if anyone had issues with me sniping during game play, rather than playing a more active role in close quarters. The point game of course is to just go out and have fun, so im sure its no big deal what a person decides to play. And of course, its not about who is on top. Though, to me its important that i do my job as a team mate.

i just wanted to see how some of you felt, when you have a sniper on the map (on your team) and really does not show himself until the very end and has to plant or defuse that bomb... i.e. not getting as many kills or toping the charts becuase of a different play style.

Forgive me, i just have a really bad guilty concience. :p

Don't play for kills... Ya I know what you are saying but hear me out.

I don't play for kills. I play the objectives. Thats why I have a very bad kill to death ratio. But it works for me. Play the way you find the most fun.

Why would anyone have a problem with your play?

There's a four-letter word in there that sums all of this up for me...GAME. To me it's only a game...a chance to have fun and socialize with some people I'll probably never meet. Whatever someone's game style is, it doesn't matter to me...except spawn raping, bunnyhopping, etc.

Some people may taunt snipers, whether jokingly or seriously, as being "campers". If i had the patience to sit still and camp or snipe, i'd probably do it. As for gameplay, for me it makes it interesting trying to locate and take out that son of a b!@$h sniper who got me 3 times in a row.

Whether you're a medic...a rifleman...or a sniper, for me it's all those things combined that makes a game fun...and of course the harrassment you'll probably get!

I guess for me, if I snipe... I feel like Im not "earning my keep" or "being a team player". Its a game and the point is to have fun. I know this already, but I just felt some what uncomfortable sniping at times, since im not in the mix, though at the same time feeling most comfotable with the class.

With sniping (as we all know) comes the different elements... Stealth, accuracy, breathing, patience and protection of location. Its not just camp and shoot. These elements are the ones i enjoy in game and COD4 has done a pretty good job with simulating these elements, thus the attraction towards the class.

I know what your saying...it is more enjoyable when the team wins because they played as a team. And your thinking your sniping isn't viewed part of that team play because you're off on your own. From first hand experience, a good, well concealed sniper can take the other team completely off the objective. Before you know it they are hunting the sniper or wasting an airstrike on where they think he is. While the rest of your team is targeting objectives. So if you feel good with the sniper kit, just play it so that you can create chaos for the other team, spot the enemy movements and call them out to you team.

You also can always check out BF2:PR if you want to revive your Medic career.:D

Tomb, you understand completely... and thanks for that perspective, a good sniper can shift the game.

Thats the kinda thing that really makes me love playing here, i couldnt stand other places i played and we would always lose objectives and people would boast about there kill/ death ratio.. sure it may happen by a certain few here but at the end of the day if you didnt win the objective you dont win period.. just thought id add my own 2 cents..

Tranzen,

You play the way you want to enjoy the game, like newf said! F#*K the rest, you are part if this team and if people don't like you running around being a snipper because they think you are not helping out to win the game, then they can piss off and go find another team!

It is only a game people, win or loose, getting on TS and talking about gamin and other stuff is where the fun is at! If your life revolves around COD 4, you need to move out of your moms basement and grow up.

I was one of those many that called.......MEDIC!

Geeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz....harsh!!!!

Errr..play what ya want you camper!!!!!! :) j/k of course...who gives a crap what the other plays. Hell, all Punisher does is lay down clays to get his kills....no one complains about that....and then there's the NOOB TUBER!!! I know, I didn't have to say it was BALTI, as I bet 99% of the people knew who I was talking about. I will say though, he's expanding his horizons....in other words Tranz, play what ya want and have fun. I'll call you a camper either way.....

It may be harsh Roo...but it bugs me that Tranzen even had to think about this.

And by the Tranzen, if you are snipping and pick me off a few times you will hear about it. LOL.

I will find you...at some point in the map.

I think Skeletor pretty much summed up why we have the quality members we do...cuz of our "teamplay" first attutude.

Also, Hedge and Roo, I am not sure if anyone, or anything anyone said, made T feel this way. From being squaded up with Tranzen in BF2 I think it was a personal thing. That he just wasn't shooting and moving with his mates so he felt like he wasn't a part of the win or defeat teamwise. It's kinda like when a wife asks her husband if she looks fat in a dress, no one actually called her fat. Oh and Tranzen, I don't mean to compare you to a woman, seriously...playing a sniper looks good on you.;)

Tranzen- it's all about the fun...whether you want to snipe Roo in a map, noob tube him (my preference), or be a clay whore (Punisher). It's all about the fun in killing Roo over and over again. :D

Whenever we can actually get our hands on these long promised mod tools for COD4, you will see more of a playing style that you enjoy. Nearly all of us have complained about the small maps, or the run & gun stuff, etc. I think they did a pretty good job with COD4, but as you know from playing any previous versions, run and gun is the norm and not the strategy of slowing down the game play. They seem to realize the draw of players to the strategy side and the game, in my opinion, will only improve once these mod tools come out.

PS I miss playing medic too!

Thanks guys for all the info.

No one made me think of posting this. None of the guys said anything. Unfortunately, Im a thinker. At times I can over think things and to make it all worse, I have a bad guilty conscience so that is why I posted. I knew what game play would fit me best and knowing it would mean not getting in the mix of things, I wanted to see if anyone had any objections.

As far as being a camper...

One thing I can say is, Im not your typical Camping Sniper. I seek out a target, rather than waiting for one. You won’t find me in the middle of a street trying to get a shot off, but you will find my combing the outer edges of a map looking for a shot. I do not stay in one spot. You can bet that if I get a shot off on you, I move. You will not find me in the same spot you saw the muzzle flash, unless you got shot in the back of the head.

Last night was the first night I actually played sniper only. My main focus was accuracy... Taking 3 shots at a guy is totally unacceptable. Its gotta be one shot - one kill. It’s pretty damn cool when the challenges of the map change based on the class. The competition is much different than the normal run and shoot. For instance, in one map i was the only one left on my side and there was another guy left on the other team. He was up on a second story shooting down at me with his machine gun as i was ducking behind a car. I could not spot him. I continued to get hit as I tried to spot him. Finally i found him. I went prone and brought the scope up to my eye. I then estimated where his head would be in my scope once i stood up. I stood up and pulled the trigger. Tango Down! Match over.

That’s the competition Im talking about. It changes with the sniper class. In this case it was not about how many kills I got. It was.... Can i kill this guy with one shot, as he empties his clip on me? I love this type of competition and is the type of play that suits me better.

What i did found though, is that I need to spend some time in a map alone, take some time and break down the weak spots in a map that are useful to a sniper, though oblivious to another class.

Any how, im still trying to get my feel so it may be a week or two till im confident in my play. I totally appreciate all your guys advise and information and believe me when i say no members said anything that made me feel uncomfortable in any way. This was totally a self conjured thought.

I think we use the term "camper" pretty loosely in this group. I mean everybody camps at least a little bit in every game. Sometimes you need a bit to catch up to the tempo of the gameplay. Sitting in one spot all round long could be considered camping but eventually someone takes you out so it's not like you're dominating one particular spot the entire round. I say play the game the way you want. If you want to snipe by all means do it! If you're dropping enemies you're helping the team, period. Like Tomb said, you're forcing the other team to focus on you rather than their real target. I prefer to move a lot and attack the enemy from behind to force them to worry about me rather than my 5-10 other team-mates who are coming straight at them. In PR I take a totally different approach and stay close to my squad. The best way to describe my playing in COD4 is an "enemy distraction".

The way I see it is that you play to your strengths. I am not a very good run and gunner. I like to go to an elevated place(camp) and cap unsuspecting noobs.(balti,tomb,roo). To me it also slows the game down. Yes I love my clays don't I Maxx, hedge but there are ways around it, ask ninja the hack. Do what you feel comfortable with and have fun. Finally, I am here for the comraderie, if I have offended you it wasn't intentional, well maybe it was. .....relax it's never personal I love to talk serious trash to my brother in FPS arms and in balti's case sisters in arms.

Got a member here with sniper in his nickname and he thinks we will be offended if he snipes......lol.....Give me a break. Before Call of Duty 4 came out that is basically all I did. Sniper rifle covering anything in the front, claymore to cover my back.....I love watching someone work so hard getting to an objective or flag only to have me pick them off so they have to start over. Right now I am trying to get more better weapons and such so I am doing more things other than sniping such as getting head kills and streaks and preventing teabaggin by getting Punisher.....lol...Anyways, do what you want . If you are not having any fun, why bother right....lol
