Thanks Whiskey Corpse for the reminder...there has been a nice change in the software for the grid computing. Your screensaver should have been saying that it is done it's work and cannot update.

Just go to your stats page and follow the download instructions..it's now the BOINC client that runs things. There are some new projects also. Our team is still up and running, just make sure you let your screensaver run and we'll stack up points. I'll enter us in various challenges and post here when they happen. You don't have to do anything during the challenges, just maybe leave your computer on overnight during a weekend to get us extra points. Otherwise, just do your normal habits.

For those that want to help out with the OSG crunching and find out what the hell I'm talking about, visit here (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp) to read up on it and/or download.

Points are given for time and results together...and there are challenges that come up that let us pit our computers against some others over a weekend, just from letting the screensaver run, or letting it run in the background all the time. Up to the user. The software has recently been updated and there are a few new projects, you can read up about them on the site linked below...it's all for a good cause! This from the website...

Today we crossed another significant milestone. Our virtual community of World Community Grid volunteers has reached a remarkable 150,000 years of run time that has provided over 165,000,000 results to research scientists to help in the fight against cancer, muscular dystrophy, AIDS, Malaria and other types of disease!

That is computer time that in the "old" days would have been done by them buying time on mainframes, etc. Now we can help them out at home, thus the 150 000 years of run time! I think it's freaking amazing. And our gaming rigs are tailor made to crunch data for this stuff...

I've been racking up some serious points lately. My primary job is World Community Grid, but I have also been doing work for lhc@home.

lca@home= The Large Hadron Collider

I'm hoping to crunch numbers for the LHC so they dont create a small black hole and destroy us all. LOLIKID. Maybe my computer will descover the Higgs Boson. I will own the The Unified Theory Of Everything!!! MUHahahaha!

It's not the black hole, it's the other dimensions I'm worried about...haven't you played half life or watched The Mist? :plasma:
