honestly i hope this or warhammer is NOTHING like GWs. GWs is an ok game but realy blows compared to what is out there, MMO stans for masive multiplayer online and GW is not that. i have played eq2, wow, and lord of the ring and them 3 games are true MMOs where every zone you go to you will always find someone to interact with unlike GW where you enter a zone and its your own personal zone with noone for miles.
anyways sorry for the GW bash haha but its just a wierd interesting game. Now conan on the other hand looks more interesting and i would compare it to vanguard with the conan look.
what i want to ask is you guys plan on joining the pvp servers (if avalable) to accualy get out and put some team work in and some real fun while adventuring and questing?
for thoughs thats new to MMOs most game have seperate player vs player servers where the each side are truely enemies and like mobs in game the ooposite side can attack you as well. Normal PVE servers alow you to communicate with the oposite side as well has group and work with them working on quests and whatever you want as you would with your own kind.
i would like to see a team of us join up on a pvp server and have some real fun :).

also want to mention to the guys thats new to MMOs there are a few games with free trial downloads you can try out for 7-10 days to get the feel of what MMOs are all about.
EQ2, LOTRO, WOW, and eve GWs all have free trials but i would recomend trying out LOTRO as its a smaller download and great graphics, wow is good but i cant get into the cartoony look.
here are some links if anyone wishes to give them a try and see what MMOs are about.

Since I've never played any of these MMORPGs before, I'll definitely be following the majority's lead in this...whatever you guys want to do. What I would love to see is an OSG guild (or whatever these things are called) as not only a way to bring new and varied members here, but as another avenue to get the word out about OSG. If team work is an element in these games...I'm all for that!

I'm passing on AoC. after a week of playing it I have to say it not fun at all. Maybe it because it' just the beta and it needs to be flushed out. But it just not fun.
I'll hold off for WAR. And I don't know what you mean by "team work" The quests in the game are so bad that you don't need help at all with them.

yeah its nothing like shooters but team work is very much needed when your dealing with raids (24 or more people working together to advance in a raid dungeon). normal grouping content is pretty fun as well but pvp makes it much more fun as you have to work together to fight off the oposing side while trying to advance in overland and dongeon zones. but either way is fine with me, i had toons both on pvp and pve servers in eq2, LOTRO pvp was a little different as they only have 1 zone you can take your lvl 40+ toon to fight and control keeps against the monster players.
would like to get into beta or even see a demo put out soon for both games so ill just have to wait.

the teamwork i speak of is more for the group content and raiding of the game. yes most MMOs alow for lots of solo play mainly in your lower lvls. basicly the better gear your going to want is going to come from group (6 man zones) instances which will involve some teamwork, now the best high end gear will come when you have reached lvl cap and you start raiding (24 man raids) and will require much teamwork and skill of each person and class.
what your seeing now in beta is more then likely all the solo content for your lower lvls, when new MMOs come out they put out there lvl caps, 90% solo content, a few small mid lvl zones and maybe 1 high end group instance and posibly a raid zone. most likely the raid content will come in months later after release as most MMOs have done in the past once all the bugs and kinks are worked out. hell LOTRO is little over a year old and only has 2 raid zones, 1 being added 8 months after release.
both games realy look good from what i have seen but the true question will be which will fullfill your needs?. i have been looking for something like eq2 + wow combined. i wish wow would come out with a sequal with a better look and feel (wow game play is awsome) (eq2 relistic look and feel is amazing but itemazation and risk vs reward has always sucked in eq2).
im sure ill get them both and since conan is coming first well they will get my first opinion. ill give each of them about a month or 2 and see which i like better if either at all but i cant see paying 2 seperate games monthly. i shall see :) .

I know about Raiding. I was in a BT guild in WoW before I quit. But AoC End Game as of right now is not there. They will not talk about it. I love to Raid and PvP and AoC anly Looks like it will have some PvP.
Now Take WAR It's ALL PvP and there end game is city Raids and PVE Raids.
I pay for 2 MMO's now EQ2 and COH/COV. I'll drop One when WAR comes out.

Furious, I have played SWG, Wow, GW, and Lineage II. I have already purchased my pre-release copy of AOC.
I have done tons of research and it comes down to what you want out of a game. A lot of people that liked WOW are heading towards War becuase its very similar (even graphically), with some added changes. Wow was fun, but it was the same thing in every zone. I wanted a change and that is why I chose AOC. Lets face it, Wow was all about grinding and raiding for the sake of having cool gear to wear around and becoming #1 on the damage meters. It was fun, but after two years it got old even with the expansion.
I am comparing AOC with Star wars galaxies an empire divided becuase it resembles AOC so closely. Any person who played pre combat upgrade will say it was the best game that they played.
Our guild had a town, each of us had our own houses in the towns that was decorated with our own belongings. We had a cantina that everyone hung out in as well as our businesses that our vendors stayed in. This town was our life and as there was ZERO raid/dungeons in SWG, it was all about your guild and your city. One minute we would find ourselves in an argument with guys in the starport, two weeks later we have 150 people rushing their city, only after our bounty hunters took out all their top jedis over a period of a week. The game was about the rivalry and AOC is replicating this in it own unique way.
There will be Raids in AOC, but thats not the focus of this game... its the player environment created by all the players.. Its the society and economy that is created by the users and all the drama that comes along with people establishing and maintaining their own.
Honestly, i have put countless raid hours in wow and have taken down every in game boss up to this recent expansion. Raiding is fun, but... its old. I want my game time to be spent chasing some guy down because he called Balti a dick head.. or disrespected one of our members. I want rivalries.. and i want the enemies. I want the friendship of allied guilds and the satisfaction of having the last word, when a city/keep crumbles at the feet of OSG.
I want something different. Like many of you I played many MMO's and honestly, its time for a change. I don't want any more orcs... or elves.. or Gnomes. I want real life normality in a fantasy world.
This is what Conan brings to the table. Like you Furious, I do believe in a full PVP server as I feel it would fit the mentality of OSG better as we are guys who like the action.
I will most likely pick up WAR to check out the game play, but for now with me being so burnt out on Wow, I cannot see myself going back into such a similar game. At least not right now.
this one looks alot like Guild Wars..
Hey Chisel, I think there is a difference. In GW, you only had human interaction when you zoned into cities. Once you left the city you were on your own until you reached another city or town. In AOC, there are people around you in all areas like WOW etc. At least from what i have read. GW is the only game that I know of that limits human interaction in cities only.
