Open vs. Core Server rulesets...

What are Open and Core Server?

Core Servers.

Enter a low level RvR zone and you get turned into a chicken.

Enter an RvR zone and you are autoflagged.

Enter a PvE zone and you are not flagged unless you flag yourself.

Enter an enemy territory you’re flagged automatically and you can’t unflag yourself.

PvP is still consensual in PvE protected areas.

10 min cool down on PvP flag, Death removes instantly. Flight removes instantly ~ you can *never* unflag in RvR areas.

You will receive a "Bolster" buff when entering Scenarios and RVR area if you are to low a LvL for that area.



Open RvR Ruleset.

Your RvR Flag will be on permanently. There will be no way to turn it off.

The "Bolster" buff will not be functional in RvR areas only in Scenarios

If you go to a low level zone You turn into a chicken { You can out LvL a zone and POOF Chicken }.



The brake down of each zone of RvR area to PvE Area in the zones.

T1 Zones: 20% RVR, 80% PVE LvL 1-11
T2 Zones: 40% RVR, 60% PVE LvL 12-21
T3 Zones: 60% RVR, 40% PVE LvL 22-31
T4 Zones: 80% RVR, 20% PVE LvL 32-40.

open = full pvp server with lvl restriction to avoid high lvl gankers

core server sounds pretty gay to me as everyone that rolls there will turn off pvp till there done lvling, wheres the fun and competition in that?

Also remember...

There are 40 Character Ranks { think regular character lvls in other mmo's } and 80 Renown Ranks { ranks which can only be acquired through RvR/PvP }

A good mix of PvP/RvR and PvE Starting at CR1 { Yes you can jump into a scenario and PvP at LvL 1 } is the way to go.

being able to turn off pvp is not a pure pvp server making it pve, so yes i know what im talking about, thanks. sure there is designated pvp/rvr areas which you cant turn off pvp but in all other areas you have that option to turn off pvp making it pve.

i was helping balti make some since out of your first post, core = pve with option of pvp, open = "FULL" pvp with no option to turn it off.

and ofcourse your going to roll a server to turn off pvp to save yourself some griefing when working on quests is why ya didnt play on bluesteel with the majority of us.

to those of you who enjoyed bluesteel open pvp i would recomend choosing the open "FULL" pvp server then a server you will find carebears turning off there pvp flags :)...

im done with conana also when war comes out i have no wish to further aoc i havent been in it either for past month or so but i wish all of u would stop arguing about what server and just explain urselves for those who have no idea or need more explaining keep it simple short and sweet so we can read it and be on our way to kill something also on the 7th some of us like rage and simple have the open access so we can try all the shit we want and will write up relay posts about what we think is the best and what we should do . simple enough not everyone likes all pvp not everyone likes pve we r a mix and this game seems to have alot of both with some good storylines so we shall see

if your hanging up the guild on AoC mind shooting one of my alts an invite and leadership so i can cherish and build the guild city for shits and grins?

about the server choices in WAR i did explain it simple and sweet with a little shit talk sence maxx got a little hussy on his reply, doesnt matter to me since im not playing the game at all ever but ill say it one last time.

core = pve with the option to turn off pvp in designated areas, rvr areas are full pvp with no option to turn off. basicly in most of the areas where most of the quests are held you can enjoy the game without being bothered by pvpers by simply turning off "you're" pvp flag.

open = full pvp with no option to turn it off ANYWHERE, just like bluesteel while your trying to quest you will have to watch your back every minute cuz ya might get ganked.

and btw AoC was the same way, in PVE server (what they called it) you have the option to pvp there as well, being mini games and sieges, but open worlds there is NO pvp at all.

Last time NO...

This is a full PvP game... Even on Core it full PvP.

On the open servers there are places to unflag { Cities not under siege and Chapter 1 of each zone is safe } You don't know what you are talking about when it come to this game.

I don't understand where you are getting this turning of PvP flags from...

When you are PVEing you never see the enemy. The PvE areas are split up { and may be a map or 2 away } So a Green skin my need to go out of his way to get to the dorfs PvE areas. So you don't NEED to watch you back when PvEing because the enemy is not around.

So why Roll Open? To be a greefer? Looks that way... Also on Open you can't go back to lower tiers and do quests you out lvl because of the chicken mechanic. There are some Lairs in the lower tiers that are for CR40 groups and people on Open will not be able to do them because of the chicken mechanic...

Open is actually more restrictive than core. Basically you are restricted to 3/4's of the content at tier 4. You can't EVER go back to T3 even. So you are giving up freedom of game play just to have your PvP flag on all the time... GG...

AoC is nothing like this game... this game works and is not shit.

sure AoC can be a drag when you dont pvp high end pvp, attack and defend in siege battles or raid, so ya i can understand where ya coming from there. so basicly your calling a game shit cuz you couldnt/didnt play 3/4 of the game, GG.

i have and am doing all of the above and it is a blast other then pvping right now due to crazy OP items that being handled in test atm, once pvp patch is released you will see tones flocking back to enjoy in something that yes was suppose to be in at launch but hey its MMO and thats MMO history, WAR will be the same way sorry to say, what ya see in beta is not all what your going to get on live. you should know all this by now maxx, you played your share of MMOs or maybe you have never experienced any of them on release?

i wont go into details about how WAR is gonna be shit hell just look at the combat system, thats laughable all on its own :)..

IF War does not work out (and I am praying it is a great game), I may hang up the present day MMO's and head back to SWG and possibly reactivate my WOW account. But...
