Vegas 2 Retro night

I would like to suggest we have a vegas 2 retro night once a week and with this have a tournament by creating teams and having a play off. I propose that we elect team captins and create our teams and vote on the gametype we will play in. this would be for fun and the winners will have the title of (The Elite)...Please sign up if you are interestd and what night would be good for this tournament...this is a in house tournament only among osg members...

I play on the weekends anyway so it's a no brainer for me. As far as game preference, I prefer Team Leader mode.

For those who have the game but haven't played it since the original release, its a more polished game since the patches.. One thing everyone needs to know is that if you are having trouble finding a particular versus server, it's most likely because Terrorist Hunt set your max players to 4, so you need to set that to 16 to see all the servers. Oddly enough, you need to use the mousewheel to scroll past 12 max players so if you don't see a server that other's are seeing that's probably why.

Also if you have not downloaded the three new maps from the fan pack, please see my post in this forum that says fan pack in the title. It can be tricky to find the maps just googling around or looking at Ubisoft's site (or it was last time I looked).

Also in Team Leader mode, whoever is Team Leader should be the most communicative -- pointing out the location of the other leader, but holding back and letting his teammates try to take the other leader out. I guess that will change a bit if we are all on the same TS channel since we can hear each other... lol

As I said several times already, I can't really pinpoint a specific night that I am able to play. Some nights I'm not able to play and others I'm simply not in the mood...tonight for example I'm going to watch last night's Prison Break, so I probably won't be on.

well lets see if we can get enough to do this before we go for a permanent set night even though you are correct it is a good fps game...there are many times I wish my bot in cod4 could do what the one in vegas2 can do...would make a wicked game play...

Late nights after 11 PM east for me. As far as a set night I can make Friday earlier like 9 if I am not out with the wife. Team Leader really is the best. Just ask Nip.

Domino will be on (usually very late). Nip will likely be there whenever a few people get in the TS channel but I'm fairly sure he hasn't looked at this thread. Usually by the time 3-4 guys get in the channel, more folks will pour in.

I will be there. Bucko is right, once you go in a server it fills up real fast. We may need to drop tags to play on the same side if it gets to where we can do that. It would be fun to be able to do that. Just so you know in playing Team Leader, as long as the TL is alive you can respawn on him or at the default spawn spot.

A little extra info about Team Leader mode, just for those who haven't spent much time on it or haven't played in a while.

- Your TL can see the general position and exact distance of the enemy TL and can communicate it to the team where he is.
- If your TL dies, work hard to stay alive because you can't respawn. Likewise taking out their TL early is good as a secondary tactic because their team cannot respawn once he dies. Equally important is protecting your TL regardless of where he is.
- If you kill the TL, you are TL next round
- If their TL kills you, you cannot respawn until next round
- Your team will get the most points if you get your TL to the objective rather than killing all of their team
- Your objective is a green arrow. Enemy objective is a red arrow.

It's a large download of course and may take hours depending on your connection speed, but you will not have to put a DVD in the drive or worry about the disc getting scratched or losing it's optical mojo over time. There is an (unsubstantiated) rumor that Steam folks will be able to upload their achievements to Steam at some point for moving the install between machines. Its possible Ubisoft will release a utility for anyone to do this but for now they are all client side stored.

Last I heard it got patched. Nip can probably confirm that. I believe he is using a downloaded version.

Good job Bucko on the notes. With the 4 player limit on Terrorist Hunt, Team Leader has been a lot of fun instead of the regular Team Deathmatch respawn unlimited bloodbath shits and giggles lovefest. Where the hell has Psycho Dad been?

What happened was Ubisoft released what was (I think) the second patch (1.1.2 or something maybe).

When the patch came out, it was immediately apparent that it sucked. Bots appearing out of nowhere, and more bugs than the original.

Steam realized the patch had problems, so they waited a few days to push it down to folks to see what Ubi was going to do. So there was a few days where Steam players could not play with non-Steam players. It wasn't really a problem because there were plenty of both servers available.

I guess in the end they just pushed the patch down anyway, because it was clear it was going to take Ubi a couple of weeks to really fix the problems they caused and they couldn't hold out forever.

Then patch 1.3 came down and everything was fixed and Ubi redeemed themselves by offering the fan pack, graphic improvements and a bunch of other stuff. It was immediately apparent 1.3 was a winner so Steam pushed it right down.

That's the only time I've seen that happen with a Steam purchase.

Update: when I re-read the posts I think you might have been referring to something different?
