Ok, technically it's an RPG more than a first person shooter, but it is first person (well you can play third person if you want), and you definately shoot stuff.
Still being addicted to Far Cry 2 multiplayer, I was looking forward to FallOut 3 so I downloaded it from Steam yesterday and played through a few quests tonight. So far it's everything I'd hoped so I imagine I will be spending a lot of time on it. I would research it heavily to find out if it's for you. I'm told that people who hated Oblivion will probably hate this and that's probably true depending on what it was about Oblivion that turned you off. I think I'll like this better than Oblivion because of the gritty, post-apocolyptic theme. I find it easier to get interested in the story than with Oblivion because of that. It's also getting great reviews. Ultimately I'm more of a multi-player shooter fan than a single player gamer so this will take a back seat to Far Cry 2, but it will be a nice diversion. I'm going to wait to play the single player of Far Cry 2 until I'm done with this.
