What a crappy piece of software! Oh wait, I should have known, the name starts with EA. Purchased the Euro Force expansion but I can't download MY game that I purchased because EA's downloader program keeps erroring out. It loads and then I get this little error prompt that says "Core" with a button to click "Ok". I've tried downloading and re-installing the downloader to no avail. What a piece of crap.
Hey, I'm one step ahead of you...I got the downloader to install fine, it was when I was downloading the game, SF, it kept erroring out. I ended up going out and buying the friggin disks...I had sent EA a couple of emails, but of course I never received a reply.....If I have about 10 Capt. Morgans, I may have to try it again though...:)

Well if I don't get a response from them at all I'll just dispute the CC charges for failing to deliver a product which I purchased from them. Won't look good on thier record if a number of people do the same thing. :D I'm gonna spend some more time trying to find a work around though.

Fixed it. Turns out EA Downloader no likey IE7 beta. Uninstalled IE7 beta and everything worked. EA and thier downloader still sucks though, they should at least have a second download option.

No doubt! I played some of the new maps and thought "I paid $10 for this?". We'll see how the play online.

Much like my anger management classes, EA is starting to pi$$ me off! I managed to fill out the EA Downloader information (surprised there was no place for my social insurance number, shoe size, etc.) Only to find out to proceed I have to now go set up a freekin GameSpy account. After getting mad and throwing a few things (luckily not the PC) I went ahead and set up a GameSpy account. Things calmed down as I downloaded and installed the booster pack.....NOW WHAT???
I clicked on the Play button in the downloader and kept getting an error saying to Play these maps I need to download the Euro Forces ?!?!? ISNT THAT WHAT I JUST DID YOU F'IN PIECE OF  ....(sorry !!....think happy thoughts)
Bottom line is you have to make your GameSpy NickName the same as your BF2 Profile login name. So I changed it to sgt_sl@ughter in GameSpy and got into the games only to think the same as NinjaAssassin "I paid $10 (plus US exchange) for this!"
One of the single player maps is pretty much a battle with the Crappy Euro Tank Thingys (as Plat states). that should be real fun for the people who don't get to a tank first in Multiplayer.
Oh well "Live and Learn" they say....I just wish I would LEARN :(

Just for reference you guys already have a gamespy account. It's the account you created when you first played BF2.

Correct you are Beaner....apparently part of my problem was that my GameSpy username is actually an old e-mail address (have since switched ISP's).
However my point of contention is not that it is difficult to create an account but rather seems a bit (no ALOT) ridiculous to jump through all those hoops just to play a game.
I personally would rather pay twice the amount to get a tangible product. With the EA Downloader I had no apparent control over where it installs the files, etc. So now I have Battlefield files on my E: drive as well as scattered maps on the C: drive. (can I simply cut and paste them in the mods directory??? or will that screw things up?) I have many partitions and like to keep the C drive free for when Windows blows up and I have to reformat I don't loose all my game files, downloads etc. Speaking of which.....what happens when (not if) the hardrive dies and/or gets replaced, reformatted, etc. how do you get the Booster pack info??? Download it again?? for Free???
Obviously I don't expect anyone from OSS to have the answers to these questions but I think the on-line game downloads should be a CD image format that you can burn and put in a closet for the inevitable. I have been through this whole gammit with on-line music and now have several megs of songs that I bought that are useless because the licence file has gotten corrupt and I cannot re-download.
..thats "The Way I See It"
Damn, I just ran into all the crap you guys are talking about about a week ago but still haven't got it rectumfied after 7 e-mails back and forth with EA idiots telling me it has something to do with nothing I complained about. Damn IDIOTS!Then they send me a survey asking if the answer I received took care of my problem? HELL NO! and I gave it to them good in the comments section. Haven't heard from them since and I guess I have to go the Credit Card route and not pay it/challenge it like you suggested! No hope for the little guys (that's me)

Hell, after all my wrestling with euro farce and the downloader, I now have it rectified but I no longer have special forces installed. I just don't want to touch it now cause it works! I used to have some respect for EA games.
