Most of this will be old news to those who have been playing a lot, but might help the folks just starting to join multiplayer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PATCH
As of 12/22/08 there have been two patches, so be sure your version number is 1.02
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CLAN TAG
To put your OSG tag on, you hit the tilde "~" key to bring down the console, then you type:
use_clan_tag |OSG|
(note the space between the last "g" character and the vertical bar).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PUNKBUSTER
The easiest way to fix all Punkbuster issues once and for all is to download PBSETUP.EXE from www.evenbalance.com, add FarCry 2 as a game, be sure to set the game path to the location on your harddrive where the FarCry2.exe file exists, and update it after adding the game. This game is picky with regards to punkbuster, but at the same time I have yet to see a cheater or hack in this game so that's a good thing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPRISING MODE
We have been playing mostly Uprising mode, because it's the best teamwork mode. It is capture the points (A, B or C) similar to BF2.
The difference here is that only the designated captain can take points.
The game chooses captain at random, and we usually have voting turned off so theres no way to change captain mid-game.
If you are captain, do not worry too much about what gun you have. Your sole focus is to capture points and let your team mates support you in that mission. Your best bet, when you are capturing a point, is to keep one goal in mind -- how can you stay alive until the point is captured? This means staying low, keeping the barrel or the sand bags between you and your enemy, etc. Its better to keep down than to pop up and try to kill because it exposes you to fire. You and your team will score higher by capturing points than killing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HEALING
The default key to heal yourself is H. The default key to heal others is E.
Only you can heal yourself if you've taken some damage but are still standing. Only others can heal you if you're knocked down but still alive.
Part of playing well as a team is getting the hang of this system. For example if you're knocked down, look around a bit to see if someone is coming to help before you give up and respawn. Before you heal someone, make sure you're not bringing them right back up into the same sniper fire that took them down (you'll probably both die if you do).
The best thing to do when you're knocked down is simply say "I'm down" over teamspeak and let others make the determination whether they can safely heal you.
If you are captain, and you just took a point, sometimes it's actually advantageous to just give up the ghost and re-spawn, because your spawn point might put you closer to the next point you need to take. Remember capturing points quickly is more important than staying alive or killing the other team.

WEAPONS
There are lots of good weapons in the game, but there is one that most players will find particularly beneficial to unlock as early as possible, and that is the AS-50 (which is the third sniper rifle upgrade for the Sharpshooter class). I recommend focusing on getting that rifle first, and worry about other weapons later.
Other recommended weapons after you get the AS-50:
AR-16 - third assault rifle upgrade for Saboteur class. Be aware it fires burst mode only. Has great scope and great overall weapon for both moderate distance and close range.
AK-47 - second assault rifle for Commando class. Easier to get than the AR-16 because you can get it on your first unlock if you want. Not as good as the AR-16 but gets the job done at short-medium range.
Spas12 - semi auto shotgun for Guerilla class. Nasty close range weapon.
Mac10 - this is the secondary weapon for Guerilla, you get it by default and don't need to unlock. Excellent short range weapon, seems to take them down everytime, only problem is it empties the clip quickly so be ready to reload frequently.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRE
Fire is important in this game. If you have a weapon such as flamethrower, flaregun, molotov cocktails, etc... you can use them tactically. For example if you are at point A and you see three guys coming to take the point. You know you're probably toast anyway once they get there, so you set fire to the point, which will keep them away for half a minute or so since they have no way to put out the flames. This is the kind of tactic that really makes the difference between a round win.
