Tonight we had an interesting session with some new players who just got the game and had a couple of hours of great play. I am impressed at how quickly some of the newer players are getting up to speed on a multi-player shooter that has a slightly higher learning curve than some. This is one of those games where the more you put in the more you get out, it's not the spray-n-pray game that you can jump into once a month and immediately hit the high score through an act of the gods.. lol.

The uprising (capture points) mode is a true teamwork game which rewards your team with a win when you are working well together, and results in a loss when the other team is working better together. It is not a game about "how many kills I got" it is whether your team wins the round, and your XP (which is what affects your rank) reflects that. You just take the losses in stride (and we all get them) knowing you're still a better player for the experience and you do better next round.

The last round tonight, which led to frustration for some of the newer players was indeed chaotic, but I just wanted to let everyone know that the opposing team had 3 of the best players in the world on it, if that makes you feel any better about the round loss... I'm not exaggerating, I've played with them all, I've encountered most of the really experienced players in this game because its a tight knit community, and I can say that those guys from POM (its a German clan -- I dont even think they speak english) are truly some of the best players you will encounter in this game. Sometimes in a non-dedicated server like we were running off my machine, they will be on your team, sometimes not. Tonight they were on the other team and we were helping newer players get up to speed, and that's why we were owned, that's all. The fact that we fought long and hard and prolonged the defeat for so long by itself is something to talk about.

Anyway I don't want the guys who just got the game to be turned off by it just because it takes a little longer to get the hang of. I am trying to help support each and everyone of you with the natural questions and learning curve everyone has coming into the game. The only way to stay on the absolute top of that learning curve is to get the game when it first hits the shelves. This is one of those games where the longer you wait to get involved with it, the longer it is going to take to become acclaimated while playing with more experienced players.

Lastly, yes it has a few bugs but much less so than Battlefield2 did when it first came out in 2005. The issue of waiting in the lobby (which was not a problem tonight since it was filling up faster than we could handle at times) will become a non-issue when we get a dedicated server, because then we can set the server to allow joining of games in progress, so there will be no lobby wait time.
