NOTE: THESE ARE ONLY REQUIRED IF YOU ARE HAVING CONNECTIVITY ISSUES IN FAR CRY 2

If you are having connection problems with FarCry2, it is most likely resolvable by adjusting your firewall port settings. Far Cry 2 is a game where greater anti-hacking measures have been implemented than we typically see in FPS shooters, thus can be a bit picky about Punkbuster settings, port timeouts, etc.

So on your PC, when playing, be sure you have these open:

Client PC Port Settings
-------------------------------------------------------------------
9000 - 9005 TCP & UDP (Client side & in-game Server)
44301 - 44302 UDP (for Punkbuster)

When running a server:

Server Settings
-----------------------------------------------------------------
3074 - 3075 TCP & UDP (Server)
49001 - 49001 & UDP (Server)
500 - 500 TCP & UDP (for Punkbuster Server Admin)

In addtion to the above, please be sure PunkBuster version is current for Far Cry 2. The easiest way to do this is to download the PBSETUP.EXE program from www.evenbalance.com, add Far Cry 2 as a game, browse to the location on your harddrive where FarCry2.exe is installed, and click update in PBSETUP.EXE.

Good info. Stickied for you. :)

EDIT: We won't have to worry about port routing if OSG hosts a server. That's all handled by Hypernia.

Word on the street is the dedicated server in it's current form has some aspects that are causing some hosts to stay away until they patch it. I don't recall all of details off-hand, but it's stuff that they are probably seeing as a potential support cost for them that they don't want. I know Ubi is working on improvements -- the last patch was a vast improvement in terms of the server browser, so while they did take some shortcuts in order to release PC/XBox/PS3 all at the same time, the console-itis is correcting itself pretty rapidly.

It's actually pretty low on overall bug count compared to previous Ubi titles (and a LOT lower than EA titles on first release).
