ok so it cost 39.99 but what does it really look like. What kind of cars/ tracks ? The web site seems a little vague.
I am led to belive that u can race sport cars or formula 1 cars which is fine with me i dont realy like stock car racing anyway but i havent seen them yet on the main site?. This does apear to be a more interesting game. Ok the stock cars come in the form of a mod. I enjoy racing games but i wasnt real impresed with the nascar sim meaning i would only race that one when you guys were racing. The Rfactor looks like something id play on my own also. Ok so its slow at work and ive been looking all morning at rfactor and they even have a dune buggy mod for off road racing. So i will buy this when i get home.

I will definately check rFactor out. (edit: looks great!...from the makers of 1999 Sports Car GT, sweet.)
From Plats description it sounds like ToCA 3 wth all the different types of racing. ToCA3 is fun just because you can go from one type of racing to another, asphalt, dirt, off road, oval, road course, etc. The physics are almost too forgiving unless you put it on Pro Sim mode. The online needs better net coding as there is alot of warping, making it tuff to enjoy online.
Here is a link to ToCa3 and some thumbnails of the various types of racing in ToCa3.

I havent tried ToCa3. IS that a good one? I have been away from the racing sims for too long I think. Need to sit down and log some seat time.
Edit: I read a nice review, sounds like an interesting game for sure.

that is for race driver3 different game but very nice. that site is confusing because it has so much info on it. you need only look at rfactor then there mods screens etc. http://www.bhmotorsports.com/RF/mods that is unless u want that one but pill was talking about rfactor and thats what i was looking at. here is link for Rfactor screens http://www.bhmotorsports.com/RF/screenshots I havent tried it yet but rfactor gets 2 thumbs up from me on looks and mod suport alone. If the gamers love it that much to have so many web sites and so many mods it must be good and the screens look great.

It is fun but for single player only. Online races are too crazy because of all the warping.

Sorry Plat, the link is for ToCa Race Driver 3, the one I was mentioning for comparison. I agree that the ability to mod the game is what will give it longevity. I guess they do not have many licenses for real world race series, tracks, cars, etc. They are doing great recreating all of the above even if they are not branded realistically.

PiLL,
It looks like some leagues may be starting to make the move to rFactor.

My 2 cents...For those that have NASCAR Sim Racing already, I think we can still use it to get everyone some racing seat time. I think we all need to have some fun with this so the interest will grow. Plus it looks like the Stock Car mod has very similar settings so anything learned in NSR could be taken over to RF. For the open wheel or Sports Car fanatics they may want to move over sooner since RF gives them those options that NSR does not.
I will try and host a race this Thursday to see how many OSS'ers that already have NSR are ready to turn some laps. I will post the server name as soon as I am sure that the server shows up on the in-game server list.

I am soooo bored with BF2, I would love to race with you guys.
Is Rfactor something you have to download and what does it cost? I know it the same guys who made the EA Formula 1 series, so it has to be good. It looks like it's designed to be very open for mods as well. I saw an F3 mod out there, as well as some very cool ones
It sounds like there's a lot of interest here. I'll pick it up ASAP.
I must say I don't care for oval track racing, so I probably wouldn't be into that. Open wheel (F1, F3 etc.) is what I love.

Thanks Plat, I guess I should have looked closer! I need more sleep!
PC Gamer gave it a 90% and said that was low because of low detail cockpits and lack of weather change.
They also said it runs warp free online, and other sims should take note!
Does anyone here have rFactor? With the openess to mods, it looks perfect for us. Different tracks and car types to keep it interesting.
