I've noticed that AA can be usefull, with AA there are times to shoot and times not to shoot,

DO NOT SHOOT
1) Unless you have a lock
2) A Plane/Helo is flying directly at you with a good rate of speed
3) A plane/Helo is in a dogfight with one of yourown
4) the plane/Helo is in a sharp turn or has its afterburners going

SHOOT
1) when they are flying away
2) flying strait up
3) as soon as you have a lock and see that they have dropped their flares and relock on the bird(they will usually drop flares a second after you lock on)

Just some things i have noticed that have worked/notworked on the battle feild.

Fell free to add and hopefully we will figure them out.

Good post RubbaDuk.

I add these comments:

AA is almost worthless. I rather be on the fifty than the AA. Helos are easier to hit than fixed wing. M204 through the open door of the transport helo works well.

"2) A Plane/Helo is flying directly at you with a good rate of speed"

Dismount the AA and take cover because it is lining you up for a strafe party. Pilots learn where the AA installations are and target them regularly. Because the pilots know the AA is worthless and you strapped in the chair, you are an easy target to pad their stats.

This is one engagement that has a higher rate of success than others: The fixed wing overflies your AA; You lock and let it drop flares; re-lock and shoot if it is not turning. You want a short range shot at his six.

I agree with Pulver, the AA sucks but a well placed M203 can take out the occupants of a helo and 3 more can take it down....like it did last night.
