Operation FALCON nets more than 215 fugitives in Palm Beach County
Erika Pesantes South Florida Sun-Sentinel 7:41 PM EDT, July 9, 2009
PALM BEACH COUNTY - The U.S. Marshals service netted 215 arrests in Palm Beach County during Operation FALCON, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The monthlong Operation FALCON was held in South Florida and focused on capturing felony suspects such as sexual predators and fugitives accused of committing violent felonies.
About 50 federal, state and local law enforcement officers worked throughout the operation in the West Palm Beach area. Local law enforcement officials were sworn in as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals so they could arrest fugitives outside their respective jurisdictions.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, West Palm Beach Police and Palm Beach Gardens Police were the local agencies involved in the national operation.
I would be interested if anyone else would post the numbers where they live.

Michigan apparently has two districts, the East side around the Detroit area where I am: http://www.usmarshals.gov/falcon09/news_releases/mi-e.htm
Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON 2009 netted 663 warrants closed within the Eastern District of Michigan from June 1 to June 30. Of the 663 closures in the Detroit Metropolitan area, 51 were for sex related crimes, 44 were for weapons and 14 were for homicides.
And west side: http://www.usmarshals.gov/falcon09/news_releases/mi-w.htm
By the time the operation was over, 78 fugitives had been apprehended and 130 warrants cleared.
Way to kick some fugitive ass!
The press releases both also included this fun stat:
Since its inception in 2005, Operation FALCON has made 91,086 arrests and cleared 117,874 warrants. It continues to be the largest and most successful fugitive apprehension effort in U.S. Marshals history.
And one last fun quote:
Each state and local officer was sworn as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal for the operation. This special authority empowers them to cross traditional lines of jurisdiction to track down and arrest targeted fugitives throughout the operation.
Oh, and off the FALCON homepage, stats from 09: http://www.usmarshals.gov/falcon09/index.html
Over a four week period, U.S. Marshals, assisted by federal, state and local law enforcement, arrested 35,190 fugitives and cleared 47,418 warrants as part of Operation FALCON 2009, resulting in the most successful fugitive apprehension initiative in Marshals Service history.
Keep up the good work!
