I can't give a full review like Bucko, but I can say that I would buy this game for $50. Valve hit a home run with this one.

It's a zombie killer with 4 person co-op, or 8 person versus (4) zombies vs (4) Survivors. Also Single player. And more.

It's only the contender for FPS Of The Year against COD:MW2.

Valve makes good software. Gabe Newell is a former Microsofter and has an amazingly diverse background/experience in software engineering.. many game developers don't (I guess that's why his company is doing as well as it it).

But, can anyone comment on the overall differences between this one and the first one? I did see a gameplay trailer, and it looks like fun but VERY similar to the first with a different cast and new maps. I had fun with the first one. But my plan for now is to wait for a lower price point, only because it's not a matter of "IF" but "WHEN" the price gets lowered with Valve. Since they are in charge of the biggest (and best) distribution channel going, they know exactly what happens when games go on sale -- the game sells so many copies they end up making even more money (with digital distribution, overhead is a fixed cost). With the content in L4D1, I felt like I got about $25-30 out of it even though I paid $45.... and if I wait till it's on sale there will probably be more content for it by then (that was my primary beef with the first game, there was only 4 maps upon release).
