Most already know that BF2 is able to record each round in a video file called a "demo". I have enabled demo recording on the private server and have just started to move the files from my BF2 host server to my web host server. You can download the demo files from the link below. Just make sure they end up in your "C:\Documents and Settings\[pc user name here]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\default\demos\" folder. Once they are there you can view the demos on your computer when in BF2's main menu by going to Community button.

**Edited: Thanks 'drater.**

**UPDATED 09/01/06** For the POE2 Demos just go to the POE2 folder and follow the same instructions as above.

For info on playback control, and on making AVI files from the camera views, check out this post here:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\demos

Awesome thanks!

These are a great way to see how people are killing you and to just want players tactics.

Odrater..any luck making the videos out of these yet?

All I have is C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default. Do I have to manually add a "demos" folder or should there be one there already?

Tomb you could always setup the battlerecorder feature that uploads the file to a remote server so that a user can still download it from within BF2. Here is the wiki in case you missed it somewhere. http://www.battlewiki.com/wiki/index.php/BF2:Battle_Recorder

This of course only works if you have access to the BF2 server files which appears that way.

Thanks for the link Beaner but ClanServers has an issue where you cannot remote FTP off their server to another server. I have to do it manually. People with BF2 servers have been complaining about it since last year and CS keeps saying they may allow it but for now I have to manually download and then turn around and upload them to a web server. Supposedly some other companies have the same restrictions so it's not just CS. It is still frustrating though.

Default folder should work fine, I was messing around with mine and made a folder named demos so I knew which ones to play with.

OK guys...I'm just bumping this post now that I have the POE2 Recorder Files ready for download. Most questions asked and answered above or thru the links posted above. It is an awesome way to watch the action, get some cool screenies, or make a video. Those that get it to work, please help those that are having a problem getting the files in the right place.

Have fun.

Just downloaded and ran the recorder files... S W E E T !!! I will try and post some screenshots later. I am still working on the EA batch conversion to AVI so they can be edited by video software.

BTW...'drater did you ever finish one of the videos you were working on?

Here is a link to one I did a long time ago using Fraps to capture the video. I could never get the files size down enough without losing quality though.

Just a heads up. If you want to watch the POE videos you have to be in the POE mod. BF2 vanilla won't list the POE videos when you go to the community tab.

Great videos Tomb, thanks for taking the time to get the server setup and for hosting the vids!

Here is a screenshot I captured while viewing one of the recorder files from the fallen map.

It really is amazing the detail that is in the game when you slow it down and look carefully. I think we should get everyone together for a group pic on the Fallen map...maybe even a video.

Can we get demos from our main server?

Private server demos thru 09/09 have been uploaded. I am still amazed at the level of details when you slow things down in the recorder playback.

As far as BF2 Recorder on the Ranked server... I believe PiLL could turn it on but we would be in the same position with having to manually FTP files off the server and then backup to a web server. The hosting company does not allow the automated script to run doing this for you. We cold do it for particular occasions maybe but it would require a stop and restart of the server in order to turn on the recorder feature.

I still think we should take the time to stage a coordinated video using the Fallen map or one of our favorite city maps and use it for OSS propaganda. :D
