Slow/Inconsistent Pings

Ever since I moved to Springfield, MO I've had a hard time getting a decent ping on pretty much any server. I did a broadband test and got 3727 down/103 up. I'm going to have to figure this whole thing out with my ISP before I can start playing regularly with you guys again. I'll let you know what happens.

I spoke to Mediacom and they said that my broadband test results were fairly consistent with what they can guarantee...that is, they'll guarantee between 32 and 58 down but won't give any guarantee at all for the up (although he said it should be around 200+). This is crap.

Anyway, I found a couple of servers that I have a 35 - 78 ping. I may have to stick to those for a while if I want to play at all.

Do you have Cable or DSL? Our server is actually in St. Louis so I'm not sure why you would have a high ping.

CherC, post if it is DSl or cable broadband like PiLL said. Then you need to see if any problems could be existing within you house wiring that is introducing noise to the lines. I found out that my cable I was using to connect my cable modem was going through 3 four way splitters and my signal was degraded significantly because of it. Just something to check...just in case it could help.
