I am really interested to hear from anyone that has played the AA:SF series. I know that Muteman and Trainwreck used to play it. What caught my eye was the release of v2.7 has implemented 2 COOP maps. Some of the other PvP multiplayer maps have cool game modes.
I am enjoying the mods for BF2 but really enjoy goal/objective oriented game modes. Still waiting to try the PR mode for BF2 and checking out other games with good objective oriented modes. I enjoy R63 and SWAT as a BF2 diversion and may check out GRAW in addition to AA:SF. I have already learned how to get a AA:SF server registered and running.
I have had fun doing the training in AA:SF orientation phase (Player name = Tombstone.OSS.). The graphics are pretty good. Please post any feedback on this game or any of the others.
Thanks.

I played america's army for a couple of years...I was hooked on it before I started playing BF2 this past March. I haven't played it since March, but I may just have to try it out again with the new update.

I just went to the website...is there a incremental patch or do I have to download the whole game? When I select "patch" on the AA website, it says there are none available.

I have successfully setup a America's Army v2.7 server for COOP. I have been able to connect to it through Hamachi. It will definately require more than 1 or 2 people to clear a map. Because of the crowding in the Hamachi OSS Network I have created a Hamachi Network for hosting games. I may not leave the server up at all times but there seems to be servers up in general that have various maps and game modes running.
If you want to try and connect to the AA server Luanch Hamachi and Join New Network. Network name is "White-Knuckled Gaming", password is "4gaming". The AA server I am running is for LAN and is named "Old School Soldiers AA Server". The IP of the server in Hamachi is "5.39.225.156" in case it does not come up in the game browser. If you cannot see it but are connected to the Hamachi White-Knuckled Gaming network then I may need to add your Hamachi IP to my Trusted IP in my firewall. Just PM me with your IP or get with me on Vent so I can add you.
Can't wait to get a group on this or any other AA server and see what it's like.

Cool! Looking forward to joining the coop server. I got through airborne training last night and I'm half way through special forces training. Should be fun!
I started the training last night....got through the medical part...the first one anyway...had to listen to 15 minutes of CPR.....Squad might have a hard time with that one...Are you guys taking them in order? I just kept going down the list...it did take me 4 tries to hit the circle on the night airborne jump though...:( Looks like a cool game, fun just listening to what these jokers say...

I went down the list until the medical section, then I jumped down to SF.

Do you have to purchase the original AA game first or can you download the game online such as with EA Downloader?

They're both free. Just go to the America's Army (http://www.americasarmy.com/) website and download the Special Forces client. The Special Forces (Overmatch) version will not interface with vanilla America's Army and installing Special Forces will force you to uninstall any previous versions. Hope this helps. :)
crap, hope I downloaded special forces one...I'll have to check when I get home...How will I know?
Forget it, I do have the right one...just go to the above link and then to downloads, then to one of the mirror sights....The download I did was in 2 seperate parts.....I had to unzip them with WinRaR into the same folder....then I found the AA icon in one fo the folders that was unzipped and clicked on it.....then I had to register and it worked....I didn't have to install anything, which I thought was weird...I can tell you where it's at tonight if you get on....
Geez, me giving tech info again....SCARY!!!!!!

Were they giving cardiac meds too?
Were they doing the new CPR or the old CPR?

Wow, it took me 6 tries and 2 broken legs before I nailed the jump circle. Just wait until you do the HMMV driving test. The guy is hilarious..."we ain't in Hazard county"..."you got us stuck soldier, someone better call Cooter". :D

I got the BCT, Ranger. HMMWV, Crows and CPR and Airborne quals done. I went through half of the SF but I can't get to point B and C yet. Anyone have any ideas or routes for me? There is no freakin way they saw me on the several attempts.
I did play with some of the guys last night. Damn the AI is really good. I am good at killing my own guys though. We need more city maps.
Squad...it's the OLD CPR......they need to update these games!!!!!!

Well I have qualified with everythng except med and SF. That escape and evade is hard as shit. It could use some nightvision to maybe get past.
I played on the Interdiction on the Tomb server today by myself. What is the difficulty set at? I could barely get off the road and into the trees and the AI was on me. I made it once into the building and killed bookoo tangoes. I finally got cornered downstairs. I must have spent 30 minutes in a room covering the door. I was picking up dead guy's weapons and fighting them off in waves. The game needs a death cam.

Don't ask me...that's the only one I can't get. I get too impatient...after 20 minutes of crawling around I say f@#$ it and run...lol.

Hey Mac, it has a death cam if more than one player is on. I followed Ninja and Crazy for a while after I got shot. It is a 3rd person over the shoulder view kinda like R63.
I may need to throw up one of the smaller Adversarial maps so that we can practice a little more. I know I need to look at the manula a little more too. The weapons selection seems to be limited to the position you select in the squad (by role) not by preference.

In the escape and evasion portion of the training, how do you get past the guy on the bridge on your way to checkpoint B? I've tried back in March a few times and just tried again...it's frustrating spending over 30 minutes leopard crawling around to get nailed by the same guy again and again. I even wait until he's facing the opposite direction before I move and still get nailed!

Tell me about it! As for night vision, you can adjust the gamma, brightness and contrast...I think it's F9, F10 and F11. If they're aren't it...it's one of the "f" keys.

I'm sure enjoying the AA games I have plaid over the last few nights with a few of the OSS guys; Mute, Tome, Slaughter, Coolio, Crazy, Ninja, Roo, sorry if I missed anyone.
Yes, those Co-op maps are hard! I have completed all the training including the escape and evade for SF.
Sask, at the bridge (going to check point "B") I crawled on my belly to the far left of the spotter, by the bushes. Then dropped down into the valley and around the guard tower.
The bridge going to Check Point "C", I crawled on my belly to the bushes just to the right of the bridge. Dropped down into the valley and crawled along the base of the valley closest to the spotters by the HMV's.
Hope that help Sask or anyone else trying to complete escape and evade. I should have written down detailed info but it was late and I just wanted to get it over with.

I agree with Hedge....I set up a dedicated AA Co-Op server (access through Hamachi). The only two maps that are available in co-op mode are SF Snake Plain and Interdiction. To-date I haven't seen either one completed. Last night we had 2 squads of 2 -3 people but still were being challenged.
I connected the Server to Tomb's White-Knuckled Gaming Network so that those members in that network (and the EBB network) can access the server. (Hope that is OK Tomb..if not feel free to evict it).
PS stay away from Hedge!!!....he likes to attach breeching charges to himself and run towards his squad members.......eh Mute :D

 Roo, told some of us that were on vent last night about that incident.
Oh and no problem Sl@ughter, I am glad someone else figured out how to launch a dedicated server. I had gotten so pissed when we lost to CIA the other night I shut down both PCs, forgetting one was running the AA server. What I can do is set up my server to run thru some of the other maps (non coop) just in case we get enough guys on to play some adversarial game modes.
Hope to be on with you guys one night this week.

I remember playing this a while back, and thought it was OK. It looks like this 2.7 is a whole new game though.
If you guys are playing it regularly, I'm going to pull it down and hopefully join you.

Tomb,
Last night I know you mentioned you could not connect to the Hamachi Co-Op server I placed in your (White-Knuckled Gaming) network. I had originally joined that network as sgt_slaughter (home PC) but could not ping either your game server, nor Roo. Roo, at the time, was unable to ping anyone within the White-Knuckled Gaming network as well.
I am not sure if others have had success connecting to computers within the White-Knuckled Gaming Network but we had a similar problem with the original EBB network. It seemed to have something to do with the main hamachi server and the only way we rectified it was to delete that network and re-create it. After that, all connections seem to work fine. (Just a suggestion if you and others cannot connect in that Network group).
Also.....since we are using hamachi more and more it seems, we should set up several networks but always leave room for the servers to join. In a sence link the networks together with the dedicated servers.....thoughts?
Cheers

Slaughter, I connected to Tomb's server with no problem. When you messaged me through Hamachi last night I was on his server. I got off and joined on yours with no problem. I did not really have a point I was just saying I wasn't having a problem. I will try again tonight I should be sober this time.
If you need any technical help on this, feel free to shoot me a pm!!!!
P.S. I'm just happy that I even got Hamachi to work, and can actually connect through it. I restarted computer after the last time it didn't work and everything has worked fine since......In fact, I'm probably still shown as "online" as I forget to shut the thing down at night.
